Yellowstone Dreamin Camp

Yellowstone Dreamin Camp was created by Debbie Mackey and her brothers as partners in 2020. The property's proximity to Yellowstone National Park draws a number of people to the establishment, especially outdoor enthusiasts, as hiking, fishing, and lake recreation are a few popular pastimes that visitors can engage in during their stay. On-site activities are provided for guests to utilize as well, namely corn hole, ring toss, and horseshoes. It should be noted that everyone staying at Yellowstone Dreamin Camp is given access to free WiFi during their stay. Generally speaking, Debbie has focused on ensuring that the provided amenities, the unique accommodations, and the location of the business will provide guests with a relaxing getaway in a natural setting.

About

Located in South-Western Montana, 27 miles from Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone Dreamin Camp is situated on a 25-acre expanse on the outskirts of Emigrant. The 12 glamping camp tent accommodations occupy roughly 5 of these acres, and they all measure an approximate size of 512 square feet. To describe the appearance of these wood frame-constructed tents, each is elevated on a wooden deck and framed with pine logs, covered with extra-large canvas wall tents; each with a 16 ft by 8 ft deck covered by a solar shade. Inside, occupants are supplied with a queen and king bed and standard-size sofa as well as other amenities, such as linens, towels, a dresser, mini fridge, space heater, fan, table, and chairs. Another notable feature of the tents is a propane fire table, which is available outside of every accommodation. With regard to the aesthetic appeal of the units, the owner of the campground, Debbie Mackey, remarks that the tents are fairly eclectic with a mix of antiques and modern furniture. A deck with a solar shade extends from the tents—measuring about 16 feet—for people to observe the surrounding area with chairs. Debbie explains that they also try to keep the lighting throughout the property minimal for a better view of the night sky.

Apart from the 12 glamping tents accommodations; a guest kitchen with running water also constitutes a portion of the grounds which includes a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, sink, grille utensils, along with orange juice, tea, coffee, creamer and oatmeal, and free bags of ice. Upon arrival, patrons will find their mini fridge inside their tent stocked with muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit, water bottles, and s'more kits. Moreover, visitors can do their laundry on-site if they please. While the tents do not have their own private bathrooms, 6 full bathrooms are shared among occupants of the 12 tents, each of which contains a shower, toilet, and vanity. The bathrooms are private and lockable while guests use them. There are also 3 propane grilles and multiple picnic tables for the guests to use.

The Yellowstone Dreamin Camp website informs future guests about animal accommodations. This unique element of the establishment allows patrons to park their horse trailer during their visit while they carry out their itineraries with horse hotel accommodations available for camp guests with reservations. Furthermore, with a climate-controlled kennel onsite; a service known as "doggy daycare" is offered to those who bring their pet with them. Other unique aspects of Yellowstone Dreamin Camp include to-go lunches and dinner grille packs that can be purchased with an additional fee.

On account of the natural land that encompasses the campground, many of the activities that can be undertaken at or around the establishment pertain to the outdoors. Debbie takes pride in the location, as she explains that the mountains neighbor the property, and she reports that "a 360-degree view of the area's mountain ranges can be seen" from the campground with "incredible sunrises and sunsets." The location which is in a Paradise Valley surrounded by mountainous topography also tends to draw a fair amount of wildlife, as Debbie notes that birds and deer have been observed on-site. Sixmile Creek meanders beside the acreage, providing the opportunity for fishing. Other activities that can be engaged in without having to leave Yellowstone Dreamin Camp include horseshoes, ring toss, corn hole, and indoor games. Bicycles are provided free of charge for guest use.

The main attraction in the campground's vicinity, according to Debbie, is Yellowstone National Park. Hikers gravitate toward this park, as well as fishermen—more specifically those who enjoy trout fishing—as Yellowstone River, a blue river trout stream, courses directly through the park and down through Paradise Valley. Fishing and other water recreation such as paddleboarding can also be done about six miles from Yellowstone Dreamin Camp where a daily lake is situated near the adjacent mountains. For those who are interested in visiting the national park, Debbie says that she and her brothers have operated a touring business since 2019, taking visitors in and around Yellowstone. Besides the national park, three venues can be found in the surrounding area where outdoor old-fashioned country concerts are held on some occasions. The nearby community of Chico, located about four miles from the campground, is also home to natural hot springs that guests can visit.

Culture

Debbie Mackey, the owner of Yellowstone Dreamin Camp, has the goal of helping her guests unwind and feel relaxed. She hopes that everyone will build "a connection with nature" during their stay, and she encourages visitors to explore the area. With guests' comfort in mind, Debbie and the staff members intend to provide such an experience by informing their campers about where they can find the amenities in an effort to give personal service to each patron. The owner also aims to focus on the safety of all visitors. Interaction between patrons and the staff takes place periodically, according to Debbie, as she explains that she and the cleaning staff spend a fair amount of time on-site to maintain availability should patrons have any questions or concerns over the course of their stay. Debbie also sends a welcome text to visitors upon arrival so that they can contact her directly.

Reviews from those who have stayed at Yellowstone Dreamin Camp in the past most commonly mention "cleanliness, a good night's sleep, and the hospitality," as reported by Debbie. As a reflection of this, one former guest explained their experience, saying, "We loved the amenities, especially the bedding. Very clean throughout, including the bath/shower accommodations. The scenery is definitely the star of the show."

Yellowstone Dreamin Camp operates seasonally from May 15th to September 30th. The owner mentions that on account of the establishment's tendency to remain busy on a relatively consistent basis throughout the open season, there is no specific time that is comparatively busier. Concerning the demographic of those who stay on-site, Debbie says, "We get everybody." While the property is more family-friendly in nature, the establishment also receives a considerable number of couples, bachelor's parties, and girls' trips. Repeat guests constitute a portion of the demographic as well. A note that should be mentioned for those bringing children: anyone under the age of 12 staying at the campground is free of charge.

A few policies are implemented at Yellowstone Dreamin Camp with the intent to add to the overall experience. Debbie makes an effort to maintain a quiet atmosphere during the night by enforcing quiet hours that begin at 10:00 p.m. and last until 7:00 a.m. Furthermore, smoking is prohibited inside any of the tents or other facilities on the premises, though guests are welcome to do so outside at a distance from the accommodations.

History

With a 25-year career of previous experience in the lodging industry, Debbie Mackey, the owner of Yellowstone Dreamin Camp, had dreamed of sharing her unique spot in Paradise Valley with a smaller lodging business that would allow for more of a personal touch than managing a large hotel. She explains that it was her dream to offer accommodations to guests in what she considers to be an enjoyable location. Debbie mentions that she formerly managed "the largest hotel in Gardner."

Debbie lived on and owned the property now known as Yellowstone Dreamin Camp before creating it with her twin brothers, Doug and Tedd Hupp, who partnered with her in creating and building Yellowstone Dreamin Camp; which was created in 2020 and opened for business for the first full year in 2021. Debbie found that her favorite part of her job is "sharing this beautiful spot with more people." She remarks that many people have told her that the property has "one of the best views in the valley." Regarding future plans, Debbie hopes to add a dog park for guests to use. She also hopes to eventually host weddings on the grounds.
