WestRich RV Park & Campground

WestRich RV Park & Campground, situated in Spicer, Minnesota, is currently under the ownership of Lynn Rich, Earl Rich, and Dean Westre. The property offers 109 RV sites for guests to reserve from May 1st to September 30th. On account of the campground's close proximity to several lakes—Green Lake, Woodcock Lake, Twin Lakes, George Lake, and Nest Lake—the location tends to draw those who enjoy outdoor recreation, especially canoeing, kayaking, and other similar activities. While there are a number of outdoor attractions in the vicinity, WestRich RV Park & Campground also provides activities that people can utilize without having to leave the grounds. A swimming pool and playground, as well as basketball, volleyball, and horseshoes, are all available over the course of one's stay.

About

Located slightly east of Minnesota's central region, WestRich RV Park & Campground occupies approximately 30 acres of land in the city of Spicer. A total of 109 seasonal camper RV sites are available at the establishment, all of which are equipped with full hookups. An additional 19 sites are designated exclusively for overnight stays and solely offer water and electric hookups. Another 19 spaces are classified as seasonal spots, and these sites can be found along Woodcock Lake. The RV sites are a mix of pull-through and back-in, and a fire pit is provided at every space. Wood and ice can be purchased on-site as well.

Beyond the RV sites at WestRich RV Park & Campground, the premises also features two swimming pools, one of which is smaller in size to accommodate children. The grounds are open with trees and a considerable amount of grassy areas. Additional activities are supplied on-site for guest use, including basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, and a playground. Moreover, the property has a lodge building that serves as a common area for patrons to lounge and socialize at their leisure. The lodge contains tables, chairs, arcade games, and a pool table.

WestRich RV Park & Campground is centrally located among several notable lakes, namely Green Lake, Woodcock Lake, Nest Lake, Twin Lakes, and George Lakes. Lynn Rich, an owner of the campground, mentions that while there is no beach access along Woodcock Lake, canoeing and kayaking are permitted. According to Lynn, Green Lake is one of the most popular attractions in the vicinity, as it has public beach access, and visitors can experience boat cruises on the lake as well. Aside from the lakes, the property is less than a mile away from a grocery store and restaurants in Spicer. For those who take an interest in exploring places outside of Spicer, Lynn says that the neighboring city of New London features a bowling alley and other attractions.

Culture

Lynn Rich, an owner of WestRich RV Park & Campground, wants her visitors to "enjoy their time at the campground." She intends to create a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere during patrons' stay. In an attempt to provide this experience for everyone, Lynn believes that the wide variety of amenities can allow people to enjoy their time at the park. She presumes that the campground is known for the provided swimming pools as well as the location being "close to town but still tucked away." One former guest commented in a review about their experience, saying, "[The campground] has a great playset for the kids, a six-foot pool, and a one-foot pool for the kids as well. Everyone is extremely friendly, and multiple times a season, they do events like raffles, adult poker walks, kids trick or treat, food trucks, and live bands." Lynn remarks, "We try to make the park as good as it can be." While the owner makes an effort to stay in contact with her patrons, she tries to leave interaction to the discretion of those who are staying at the establishment.

WestRich RV Park & Campground periodically hosts events that cater to both children and adults. On the Fourth of July, a golf cart parade takes place in the park, and everyone visiting is welcome to attend. Lynn says that bingo is hosted once a month, and poker walks are hosted a couple of times a year for adults. On Labor Day weekend, a trick-or-treating event is held for children to participate in. Some of the events that Lynn hosts at the property are held in the on-site lodge building.

A few policies are implemented at the campground, with the principal guideline being to "respect your neighbors," as mentioned by Lynn. Everyone is also encouraged to drive slowly in the park for the safety of children. With regard to pets, visitors are welcome to bring their dogs on the condition that they are cleaned up after and leashed. Smoking is prohibited in the lodge, though patrons are welcome to do so outside on the grounds. Lastly, quiet hours are enforced every night starting at 11:00 p.m.

The campground is open seasonally from May 1st to September 30th. Lynn observes that the busiest season of operation most commonly occurs in July and August. A fair amount of repeat guests have been seen annually, according to Lynn. She notes that the demographic of those who stay at the establishment is fairly mixed, and they receive "all kinds of people."

History

What is now known as WestRich RV Park & Campground was originally an open field that was converted into an RV park in 2007. Lynn Rich, one of the campground owners, manages the business with the help of her husband, Earl Rich, and his partner, Dean Westre. With regard to what she enjoys most about her job, Lynn considers "meeting the people" who stay at the establishment to be a significant element of her job as the owner.

Lynn says that she, Earl, and Dean try to "update things as [they] go." One of the changes that the property has undergone includes the recently added 14 seasonal sites. The owner also created an overnight area "because [their] full hookup sites became seasonal." As far as future plans go, Lynn says that updates are made "year-to-year based on people's interests."
