The Twin Oaks RV Park, situated in Poteet, Texas, features 25 RV sites across three acres of land. The property was originally inherited by the owner, Robert, who converted it into an RV park in 2012. Each of the 25 sites has full hookups, and Robert reports that the majority of the sites have 30-amp power. The parking sites are grass, each site is pull-through capable, and there is free Wi-Fi across the property. The land also houses a building with washers and dryers that guests can use to do their laundry, a covered barbequing area, and a propane refill station. Twin Oaks RV Park is located approximately 30 minutes from San Antonio, Texas, and an hour and a half from the Gulf of Mexico. Robert says there are a variety of attractions in San Antonio, including visiting the Alamo, fishing, and shopping on the River Walk.
The Twin Oaks RV Park is located in a relatively rural area in Poteet, Texas. The park has 25 RV sites that can be reserved throughout the year for either short- or long-term stays. Each site is situated on a grass area, with full hookups and mainly 30-amp power, according to Robert, the owner. Each of the sites is pull-through as well.
A building on the grounds of the establishment houses washers and dryers. Guests may use this facility for laundry throughout their stay. Additionally, there is a covered pavilion that can be utilized to cook meals and barbeque. Robert also reports that there is a propane refill station on site that patrons are welcome to take advantage of.
Robert notes that there are a variety of attractions in the surrounding area. San Antonio, Texas, is approximately half an hour away from the property and offers activities such as shopping, visiting museums, and walking along the River Walk. Additionally, the Alamo, a fortress built in the 18th century, is available for visitors to tour. He recommends those looking for restaurants to try in the area visit Backyard Kitchen, an American-style restaurant located in a backyard in Poteet, Texas; Farm to Familia, which hosts karaoke nights and car shows; and The Little Red Barn in San Antonio. Robert also notes that each year in April, the city of Poteet, Texas hosts a strawberry festival, which reportedly draws a large number of visitors.
During a stay at the Twin Oaks RV Park, Robert—the owner—hopes that guests can feel "like they are staying with friends" and have a "feeling like home." He says he "assists [guests] in every way" to provide this environment, further explaining that he learns the names of patrons, periodically visits them to ask about their days, and checks in to see if they need anything. Robert additionally notes that he tries to interact frequently with his guests. The property's motto is "Come as strangers but leave as friends," and Robert hopes that those who come to stay at the establishment can have that type of experience.
Those who have stayed at the RV park have often commented on Robert's hospitality, as well as the cleanliness of the facilities and the location of the property, being "just off the highway," according to former patrons. One previous guest said of the establishment, "[It's] right off the highway, but you don’t feel like you’re right off the highway. Clean laundry facility and park. Sites are level and easy to navigate." Another patron spoke about the hospitality of the staff at the park, saying, "The whole park is well taken care of, the staff is kind and helpful, and it is literally seconds off of 75, which was very convenient."
While at the park, there are multiple policies in place that patrons are asked to follow. Firstly, quiet time begins each night at 9 p.m. The owner notes that, due to the relatively high volume of workers staying at the park, the quiet time begins at this time. Additionally, dogs and other pets are allowed at the property; Robert notes that owners need to clean up after their animals and keep them on a leash at all times. Smoking is allowed as well, but it should be noted that guests are expected to clean up any buds that may be left. Lastly, the speed limit throughout the establishment is set to 5 miles per hour.
The Twin Oaks RV Park has been operational since 2012. The owner, Robert Martinez, inherited the land and decided to convert it to an RV park. Before the property was the park it is today, it was a relatively large field, according to Robert. He said that the area has a variety of oil industry workers that needed places to stay, so he worked to create a place they could stay during their work in the surrounding cities. Additionally, Robert believes that "more and more people are looking to move into an RV full-time," and he wants to be able to accommodate them. He says that he enjoys being about to offer a service to people who are needing the flexibility of an RV park and that he enjoys being able to meet the new people that come to stay with him.
As Robert created Twin Oaks RV Park, there have been multiple changes made to the property. Some of the most recent changes that have taken place on the premises include upgrading the WiFi connections and general maintenance of the grounds. Robert notes that getting a reliable connection to the internet in the area may be difficult due to the rural nature of the park. In the future, Robert hopes to add more sites to the property in the hopes of accommodating more guests.
