The Traveler’s Paradise RV Park is located in Bay City, Texas. A total of 66 RV sites are offered, with two apartments also available for guest reservation. All of the RV sites have full hookups and a cement pad where people staying at the property can park their vehicles. A large portion of those who stay at the RV park will work in the surrounding areas and, as a result, will stay there for an extended period; however, there are still options for daily and weekly reservations. The park is open year-round, usually busier during the spring and fall months. There are a variety of activities available for guests to undertake around Bay City. Some of these activities include visiting Sargent Beach a few miles away, playing golf, fishing on the Colorado River, and exploring the monthly market that takes place in the town every third Saturday.

About

Located on the outskirts of Bay City, Texas, is the Traveler’s Paradise RV Park. The park has a total of 66 RV sites, with options for guests to rent an RV already at the park or one of two apartments. Every RV site has a paved concrete pad where visitors can park their RV with additional space in front of the unit where visitors can park their cars. A majority of the RV spaces have full 50 amp hookups; however, ten of the sites only offer full 30 amp hookups. With regards to the apartments offered, both of them come fully furnished. The larger of the two comes with a full kitchen, an open living room, and a private bathroom. The smaller studio apartment also has its own private bathroom. Free wireless internet is available to all guests throughout the park.

Bathroom, laundry, and shower facilities are open to all guests at the park, with the laundry machines and showers being coin-operated. Guests attempting to use the laundry machines can also use an app to pay for and operate them, which is advertised in the laundry room. Trees are scattered throughout the property providing shade to many of the spaces during sunnier times of the year. There are also large open grass lawns spread across the park's three acres on which the park is situated. The property has paved roads and is a gated community. Outside of the gate, there is often a taco truck located underneath an awning where guests can purchase various Mexican-style dishes.

The RV park is convenient to many local stores and restaurants around Bay City. Guests looking for places to eat will find various Mexican restaurants around the town. Should visitors be staying at the park near the third Saturday of the month, a recurring market day takes place where people can explore the local arts and food that Bay City offers. The Bay County Country Club is nearby for those who wish to golf or wish to try the restaurant on the property. For visitors interested in learning about Bay City and the surrounding region, the Matagorda County Museum provides guests an opportunity to discover the town’s early history and settlers. Just outside of town is the Colorado River, where guests of the park can fish. Slightly further away, guests can find beach access at Sargent Beach for those who wish to experience the Gulf of Mexico.

Culture

Regarding how they want guests to feel when they stay at the Traveler’s Paradise RV Park, the owner of the property says he wants guests to “feel safe” while they are there. The gate surrounding the property is one aspect of the property that helps with this desire. According to the RV park’s website, the gate and the location of the park should help guests “enjoy all the comforts of being in a convenient, quiet city setting.” The owner also says that the majority of guests who do stay with him are usually contracted workers who stay for months at a time. As such, the amenities offered at the park are more tailored toward guests who are staying for months at a time rather than for patrons who stay for only a day or two. With that being said, there are still spots available for those who wish to stay for shorter periods, such as a day or a week or two.

The park is open year-round, with the busiest seasons of the year for the property occurring during spring and early fall. The owner says that the RV park is usually more active when the area's economy has more work to offer. Reviews for the property from people who have stayed there in the past are mostly positive. A handful of people appreciated being able to have their pets with them. One guest said, “the park is very shady and is pet friendly. We have two Rottweilers, and we were welcomed and treated fairly.” Other guests commented that “the management is friendly and helpful. It's clean, and, most of all, there is shade.”

There are a number of policies that the RV park asks its guests to follow to try to maintain a safe atmosphere. Some of the most important include observing a quiet time on the premises between the hours of 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM and ensuring that pets are on a leash and are cleaned up after. Smoking is allowed on the property, but guests must do so away from the shower and laundry facilities. The management also asks that guests refrain from throwing cigarette butts on the ground, and instead use the provided trash cans around the park to dispose of them.

History

The Traveler’s Paradise RV Park was established in the 1990s and was originally a mobile home park. Some years later, the original owner changed the property from a mobile home park to an RV park. The current owner has owned the park for four years. Some of the largest changes he has made to the property in his time of owning it have been updating the shower and laundry facilities and working on the upkeep of the landscaping. He says that his favorite part of owning the property has been the opportunity to work in the hospitality industry.
