Trailer Village RV Park is located in Roswell, New Mexico, and has 66 RV sites available. Of those 66, 21 sites are pull-through sites meant for people staying overnight or up to a week. The remaining units are all back-in sites and are reserved for those that are staying at the park monthly. Many amenities are included at the park, including laundry facilities, bathrooms, a clubhouse, a playground, and a dog park. The owners, Jon and Morgan Fennig, hope that those who stay with them are able to feel at home. The staff strives to create a "family vibe" by getting to know each of their visitors on a personal level. Each guest is invited to participate in the many events held at the property, and the owners hope to fulfill the needs of those who stay with them now and in the future.
Trailer Village RV Park has 66 full-hookup RV sites available for those that are looking to stay at the property. Twenty-one of the units are pull-through and used only for nightly and weekly stays. The rest of the sites are back-in sites and are used only for those who want to stay monthly. Twenty-four of the sites have a cement patio, and a few also have shade provided by trees. Each site includes a picnic table, and propane rentals are available for those who would like to have a fire pit.
Some amenities that are provided for visitors include a laundry facility and a bathhouse, which are open every hour of the day. A clubhouse and a store are also open for those staying at the RV park. The store sells "anything from t-shirts to magnets and lava lamps," according to Morgan, one of the owners. The clubhouse contains a full-size kitchen, a ping pong table, a pool table, and an 80-inch TV, and parties or events are commonly held at this building. A playground, dog park, and a sitting area are a few other amenities that the property offers to guests.
Trailer Village RV Park has a total of seven acres, and is surrounded primarily by farmland. The area around the campground can be described as rural, though the owner states that the property is a mile away from downtown. Some of the places either at or near downtown Roswell that patrons visit include The International UFO Museum, Brick Town, Space Port, The Planetarium, and Bottomless Lake State Park, which is the oldest state park in New Mexico and about 12 miles from the RV park. There are also a few places that the owner recommends guests eat at, including Taqueria Jalisco, Farley's, and for those wanting breakfast, Cowboy Café. Another unique restaurant is the Flying Saucer McDonald's, which is noted to be one of the most visited McDonald's restaurants in the world.
The owners of Trailer Village RV Park, Jon and Morgan Fennig, hope that their guests are able to feel at home when they stay at their property. Morgan says that they try to avoid making the RV park feel like it is part of a corporation, instead striving to get to know everyone that stays with them on a personal level. One other thing the owners do in hopes of creating a more "at home" and "family" atmosphere is providing events for those staying with them. Some of these events include holiday celebrations, sporting event watch parties, and a UFO event during the summertime to celebrate some of the history of Roswell. Some important policies have been implemented in the hopes of retaining the desired atmosphere. First, animals must be on a leash and picked up after; second, those driving in the park cannot drive over 5 miles per hour; and lastly, quiet hours start at 10 p.m.
Trailer Village RV Park is open year-round, with their busiest months being October and March, which the owner says is due to spring break and the "snowbirds." Morgan mentions that June through July have often been busy months as well because of the events occurring in the area. She also mentions that their property is mostly known for its "family vibe" and that "you get the same experience every time you come." People of all ages have visited the RV park, though the owner states that a younger demographic has been visiting more prevalently as of late. Many of those that stay at Trailer Village RV Park are repeat guests, some of which have been visiting for decades.
People who have stayed at the property have left reviews about aspects of the park that they have enjoyed. One such review says, "The owners are so nice and treated us like family. Our spot was level, and the park was very clean. The pet area is great, and the clubhouse is also very nice." Another review mentioned that "This RV park had everything we needed, and all the employees welcome you with a smile. The owners are making new improvements every day. The RV Park is also pet friendly."
In 1916, the house that is currently situated on the property was a Sinclair gas station, and the area around the grounds was known for Billy the Kid and the activities that he did around the town. Since that time, Morgan, one of the owners of Trailer Village RV Park, says the establishment has been converted into an RV park and that the area does still have a prominent history from Billy the Kid but has also received much of its tourism due to Roswell's history of UFOs and aliens. Morgan and her husband, Jon, bought the business from the previous owners in November of 2021 after working on the grounds since 2017.
The owners say that before they purchased the property, they were "full-time RVers." They often traveled around the area because of Jon's work as a travel nurse and because of their enjoyment of hunting, which is reportedly prominent in the area. Since running Trailer Village RV Park, Jon and Morgan Fennig have added the dog park, the clubhouse, the playground, and the patio. They strive to keep everything up-to-date and hope to continue to grow the property by striving to fulfill more of their guest's needs when they have them. The owners' favorite aspect of their work is meeting all sorts of different people from around the world and learning about their experiences and stories.
