History

Sennebec Lake Campground has a history that is intertwined with the iconic lodge located on the grounds, as reported by the manager of the campground. The lodge itself has been a landmark in the area since it was built in the early 1970s. Over the years, this lodge has hosted many weddings, events, high school reunions, and graduation parties, making it relatively well-known to the local community.

The lodge, being one of the more important parts of the property, played a pivotal role in shaping the campground's identity, according to the manager, Elizabeth. Sennebec Lake Campground grew around the lodge in the 1970s and 1980s. Elizabeth mentions that the campground and the lodge are now “a staple in the community.”

The current owners, Ray and Gabriela Nurzynski, who purchased the property in 2021, have spent much of their time restoring the lodge to its original state. This renovation project included the roof renovation, repairing the cathedral ceilings, adding a new kitchen and barn-style furniture, and preserving the lodge's architectural heritage. In the future, the owners hope that the lodge will serve as a venue for weddings and special events in the same way it did in the past. Sennebec Lake Campground strives to improve, and there are plans to expand its amenities, including more glamping sites, larger accommodations, and the addition of an outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven.

Furthermore, the campground has undergone various improvements under the new ownership. Bathhouses were upgraded, hazardous trees were removed, and infrastructure such as sewer and electricity was enhanced. The Nurzynskis have made a commitment to preserving the history and enhancing guest experiences wherever they are able to.
