River Mountain RV Park

River Mountain RV Park is situated on five acres of land. The rentals are available to visitors from April to the end of September. The RV park typically receives the most occupants during the months of June, July, and August. Some of the amenities included with each rental are picnic tables and fire pits. Outdoor recreation is one of the most prominent features of the surrounding area. Guests can visit the city park or Detroit Lake located in close proximity to River Mountain RV Park. Since 2013, when the owners first purchased the property and developed it into an RV park, they've worked to create a relatively social and family-friendly environment by interacting with their guests often.

About

River Mountain RV Park, located in northwestern Oregon, features 25 full hookup RV spots and 14 tent sites situated along the North Santiam River. Additionally, two cabins are available for rent. Cabin 17 sleeps three occupants and includes kitchen amenities such as a microwave, coffee pot, fridge, and table. Cabin 12 sleeps five occupants and includes a full kitchen. The tent sites can accommodate up to two tents per site and every rental has a limit of one vehicle per site.

The property includes a laundry building that operates with quarters as well as a shower and restroom building. Limited Wi-Fi is available to guests by the office. Within walking distance of the property is a city park that includes basketball courts, swings, and a merry-go-round, about one block away. According to the owner, the majority of visitors bring their own outdoor activities such as corn hole or flashlight tag. Outdoor ping pong is available to guests outside. The property provides a fair amount of open space for kids to ride their bikes and play in. The surrounding environment contains many trees, greenery, and forested areas.

The acreage can be found off the North Santiam Highway past Cold Spring Reservoir. A road leading across the Santiam River on a bridge directs visitors to the property on Church Street and down Mountain Avenue. The road leads to Mountain Ave, which is where River Mountain RV Park resides.

Two miles from River Mountain RV Park is Detroit Lake. The lake offers several recreational opportunities as well as hiking trails. Occasionally, events such as water ski shows, fishing derbies, or fireworks are held at the lake. For visitors who are hoping to go fishing, the property is in close proximity to one of the popular fishing holes in the area. Another notable attraction nearby is Breitenbush Hot Springs.

Additionally, guests can rent out an on-site BBQ that can feed nearly 100 people. A community area for occupants to host family reunions or get-togethers is available within the RV park, and a local store, generally known for the ice cream they offer, is about two blocks away within walking distance of the property.

Culture

The owners of the property, Jim and Laurie, say that creating a family-friendly atmosphere at River Mountain RV Park is one of their main goals. They want their occupants to feel safe, comfortable, and happy during their stay. Pets are welcome on the property provided that they are outdoors and are on a leash.

The RV sites and tent sites typically alternate in popularity each year, but there is never a consistent favorite between the two as observed by the owners. The RV park is open from April to the end of September with the busiest season of operation being typically from June to August. The property receives a rate of about 80% for repeat guests, many of these guests becoming close friends with the staff members at the property.

Jim and Laurie put forth the effort to monitor their guests, assuring that visitors are being appropriate and respectful of other patrons. One previous visitor remarked, "The hosts are very caring. They care about their guests as well as their park ensuring that your stay is as it should be." The owners try to keep themselves available if those staying at the property have questions or need anything. They want to create a social environment by interacting with their visitors and encouraging guests to do the same. Another camper commented, "At night, it was really quiet and peaceful. The electrical hookups were great, everything worked just fine." Jim and Laurie strive to keep their amenities maintained for their occupants. The on-site activities and nearby attractions have been one of the main draws for visitors in the area. A previous stayer at River Mountain RV Park mentioned, "The park was right on the Santiam River which was perfect for fishing."

The overall location of River Mountain RV Park is relatively rural with few nearby shops or restaurants. For this cause, the owner mentions that River Mountain RV Park is considered to be a resort mainly for kayakers, bikers, rafters, boaters, or visitors who generally hope to participate in various outdoor recreational activities. River Mountain RV Park receives several groups each year such as the Silverton class reunion, motorcycle groups, fishing derbies from Detroit, or bicycles groups. Occasionally, local farmers stop by the property with various fruits and vegetables to offer to guests and the owners. Some of the fruits are cherry plums, wild strawberries, pears, cherries, and plums.

Many local events are hosted within the area. Some of the happenings that typically draw in a fair amount of tourists are the May Fishing Derby, the 4th of July fireworks, and Brietnbush Hotsprings. Sisters Town, in particular, holds two relatively popular events known as Sisters Rodeo and Sisters Quilt Show. Upper Mckenzie River is known to be a recreation area, according to the owner, and may interest guests who hope to participate in aquatic activities at the various lakes and rivers, as well as the local hiking trails. A couple of other notable natural land features that guests could visit is Detroit Lake or the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness Area. Patrons of River Mountain RV Park are welcome to attend any of the previously listed events while visiting the area.

History

River Mountain RV Park has been in business since 2013, but the park has been around for over 40 years with multiple owners throughout the property's history. The park was joined with a mill in the past and also used to be a mobile home park for a few years.

The owners say they saw the potential of the property from the very beginning as they decided to develop the land into a family-oriented park. Some of the additions they made to the property throughout the course of their time there are remodeling, cleaning, and adding the bathrooms. For future plans, Jim and Laurie hope to add more rentals and cabins plus additional décor to add to the appearance of the RV park. One of the owners' favorite elements of owning the property is meeting new visitors and interacting with their guests. Seeing parents and kids make memories together as they host family reunions and get-togethers is one of their favorite aspects.
