Down the road from the property, guests can also visit the Powell Gardens, Kansas City's Botanical Gardens.
Powell Creekside Haven RV Park is a campground built on a 15-acre lot that sits on a larger 46-acre parcel complete with 21 total RV sites, with 10 of them having full hookups. At almost every RV site, guests have access to 20, 30, and 50 AMP electric and water stations; however, there are ten sites that also have septic stations. The park also features an indoor shower, two outdoor solar showers—which are "wonderful on a 90-degree day," according to the owner—laundry facilities, accessible bathrooms, a pond, a stream, a two vs. two volleyball court, and a play area.
Due to the location of the RV park, guests have the chance to enjoy going for a swim or a boat ride in the nearby creek, which has deep enough water for both activities. The park also has a large grass area for guests who want to use their tents for camping. Although the park doesn't have a store, the owners do sell firewood, and there is a Shell gas station less than a three-minute drive from the property. Going beyond the borders of Powell Creekside Haven RV Park, there are a number of places to visit and sightsee.
Due to how the campground is located, guests who visit can escape the city life without having to stay far away. One location that is less than five minutes away by car would be Powell Gardens, which is a botanical garden that has events throughout the year that accentuate the seasons. With Kansas City less than an hour away, visitors can experience several different places like the Kansas City Zoo and Sea Life Aquarium, where guests can see the wildlife of both land and sea. Another type of attraction that visitors can get to in less than an hour's worth of driving is the Civil War Museum and the National WWI Museum, which allows guests to learn about the history of previous wars and how they impacted Kansas City and other cities in the vicinity.
The owner—whose name is Marjorie Hoffman—and her husband say they do their best to create an atmosphere that is welcoming to families. The owners say they do their best to serve their guests, and it is not uncommon to see guests pitching in around the property during their stay. According to one satisfied customer, "the fireflies lighting up and the frogs croaking at night were really special. The hosts were very kind to us. They shared aloe vera with us to help with my sunburn. They invited our family to watch them feed their cows as well. Our kids enjoyed it so much".
Due to the number of historical sites, as well as the zoo, Lego Land, the aquarium, and the planetarium, the demographic of guests that visit Powell's Creekside Haven RV Park tend to be families with children. Another reviewer that had recently been to the RV park wrote, "Loved our time here. Marjorie and Steve were great hosts, super laid back and hospitable. I brought 3 of my children ranging from 4-8yrs old to do some tent camping, and we had a great time hiking, playing in the creek, cooking food over a campfire, and telling stories in the woods."
True to its name, Powell's Creekside Haven RV Park has its own creek where guests are able to fish, swim and kayak if they would like. There are a few policies that the campgrounds ask visitors to follow during their stay. Some of these include no campfires after midnight and no drug use. Dogs are allowed, but there are a few small regulations regarding their stay. Firstly, they need to be leashed up to a maximum of six feet as they are being walked around the property. If the dog is being left on a leash at a campsite, the leash can be up to ten feet long, and it is required that they are under direct supervision.
Powell's Creekside Haven RV Park has been in business since January of 2019, meaning the park has been in service for over two years. The property has plans to add to the grounds and give visitors more amenities. There are currently two cabins under construction and a sand court for volleyball that is on the way. Marjorie Hoffman, the current owner of Powell's Creekside Haven RV Park, says she got into the industry because she loves to host, and there are reviews that mention her efforts to get to know the visitors who stay on the property and to accommodate them.
