Because of these services and the location, many visitors to the RV park stay there as a home base while exploring the city and the history in the nearby area.
Plantation Park is settled on a six-acre property near downtown Natchez. The Premises themselves are made primarily of grassy hills and fields as well as an abundance of trees. The park takes pride in the fact that the trees provide shaded areas for their patrons to help them feel more comfortable in the hotter seasons of the year. One visitor said the campground was a "good place to get away from it all," and they "got to know some very friendly people." In addition to forty-six RV sites, the park offers its guests a variety of features and amenities during their stay. These include bathrooms, shower facilities, laundry facilities, and free Wi-Fi. There is also a store on the premises of the RV park where visitors may purchase any basic essentials they may have forgotten, such as propane and electrical adapters, as well as various snacks, candy, food, and beverage items. It also comes equipped with a gas pump for people who need to refuel their vehicles.
The forty-six RV sites on the property of Plantation Park are the only accommodations available for visitors. They each differ in size and layout and come complete with several features and amenities catering to those guests who bring an RV. Able to use any or all of them, these features include 30/50 amp electrical hookups, water hookups, sewer hookups, pull-through spots, and leveling pads. Anyone staying on one of these sites also has access to the bathrooms, laundry facilities, shower facilities, and the free Wi-Fi that is available at the park.
The Plantation RV Park is the closest RV campground to the historic district in Natchez, Mississippi. The area of historic Natchez has the most antebellum homes and mansions than anywhere else in the United States. Because of this, it is known by some as being a great place for tourist attractions, sightseeing, and experiencing what life was like in the states before the war. Many of these antebellum mansions house exhibits and tours where visitors can learn an abundance of historical information.
Beyond these places of history, there are also several cathedrals that guests can go and tour. The St. Mary Basilica is one such cathedral and is often recognized for its architectural work. It is sometimes described as being one of the most well-known Catholic cathedrals in the southern United States. The first Presbyterian church is another example of a cathedral in Natchez for tourists to see. One of the more unique ways to experience the city is riding one of the horse-drawn carriages that do tours. These forty-five-minute tours can fit six to ten passengers and are complemented by the driver's narration throughout to educate guests about Natchez.
Guests have expressed their opinions regarding the peace and quiet that they found at the Plantation Park. As the campground is located in a relatively convenient location for those touring Natchez, many visitors may find it to be a relaxing spot after a day of sightseeing around the city. The current owner is Bruce Easterly, and one of his primary goals is to try and provide a quiet and safe atmosphere for his guests. One of the ways he does this is by surrounding his property by a large number of trees so that his visitors are able to keep cool in the provided shade. One guest review confirmed this when they said, "All the sites were shady and clean, and it's very quiet here at night. If I ever come back to this area, I would stay here again."
Guests have also commented on the level lots and how that feature of the property adds to the convenience of their stay. Some reviews left by guests after their stay compliment the staff and the management. Because many visitors are coming to experience Natchez, the owner and the park staff try to make the campground a place of relaxation and rejuvenation after long days of shopping, exploring, eating, and learning in Natchez. The Plantation Park also has month-long reservations available for those who wish to stay for extended periods.
Plantation Park has been around for more than twenty-five years. The original owner of the property and the person who initially established the campground is a man named James Bradford. Bruce Easterly has been the owner for the past three years, after buying the property from James in August of 2018. Though the RV park sits on six acres of land, it is a part of a much larger thirty-three-acre property. The other areas of the property are used as a space for mobile homes and a store where people can go and buy things that they might need.
