Oregon Trails Campgrounds

The Oregon Trail Campgrounds is located in Twin Falls, Idaho, owned and operated by Jake and his wife. The property was converted from a local family fun center into an RV park about twenty years ago. There are 86 RV sites available for guests to book a reservation and they are available any time of the year since the business is operated year-round. Facilities on the premises include a laundromat, recreation room, restrooms with showers, and a snack shack. The business is situated on 8 acres of land and is relatively close to local attractions such as Shoshone Falls, Snake River, Magic Valley, and an Evel Knievel jump-site. Each year the property hosts a Fourth of July event where a free barbeque is provided to guests. When staying at the campsite, it’s important to note that animals are permitted on the land but must be kept on a leash except when in the dog park, and animals must be cleaned up after as well.

About

The Oregon Trail Campgrounds is located in Twin Falls, Idaho, and contains 86 RV sites and two tent spots available for reservations. The sites are situated close together, and each one provides access to full hookups for those staying on the property. All of the sites are gravel and pull-through, and some have trees that offer shade. One facility located on the land is the main building with an activity room that has books, ping pong tables, and a pool table. Another facility includes a laundry building with coin-operated machines and a bathroom/shower house. Amenities offered at the campground involve ice, picnic tables, and Wi-Fi. There is a small snack shack on the grounds that sells sodas, candy, snacks, etc., which is one of the newest aspects of the establishment. In the middle of the park, there is a playground available for young children who stay at the property.

The RV park is located in a residential and business area, on a total of 8 acres of land. Jake, the owner, says that the property’s location allows visitors to explore rocks, rivers, mountains, and forests that are characteristic of the Oregon Trail. Common places for guests to visit in the surrounding area include the Magic Valley, Snake River, and Shoshone Falls. The campground is also located less than fifteen minutes from I-84. The business is registered as a member of the RV Idaho and Trailer Life group.

Culture

A yearly event hosted at the Oregon Trail Campgrounds is the annual Fourth of July event, where they have a free barbeque and a live band performing for participants. Important policies for the RV park consist of mainly pet rules, including keeping pets on a leash and only letting them off in the dog park area where it is fenced off.

Jake, one of the owners, says that one of their goals is to keep a high standard of customer service. One particular favor that the staff assists with is that they try to help each guest to the property park at their site, so they can try to establish a connection with visitors. According to Jake, the park wants visitors to feel safe during their stay and that they are welcomed back after they leave. Overall, the staff says they go out of their way to introduce themselves and interact with patrons one-on-one to help maximize their stay. People who visit the park are most often returning guests or have heard about the property from those who have previously visited the business and recommended them.

One of the biggest attractions in the area is the Shoshone Falls National forest and Perrine Bridge. The bridge is one of the last places that are legal to base jump off structures, which draws in visitors to the area who want to base jump. Kayaking on Snake River is another popular activity, as well as visiting Twin Falls, which is a state park that contains hiking and biking trails. The area is also known as one of the Evel Knievel jump-sites from back in the 70s, where his ramp still remains to this day.

Jake says that one of the common demographics of people to visit his property are people who enjoy the outdoors and want to participate in the activities that the surrounding area has to offer. However, the main demographic, according to Jake, is either families or those who often travel to state parks. Those who have stayed at the property remark on the customer service and the cleanliness of the park. One guest specifically mentions that the park “has clean facilities and is in good repair with groomed gravel campsites that have shade from trees. The property is also spacious and quiet.” Most reviews about the property include remarks regarding the atmosphere of the park and easy access to the location. One of the most unique aspects of the Oregon Trails Campgrounds, according to Jake, is the closest park to Shoshone Falls, with it being only a quarter-mile away from it. The park is also a five-minute drive from downtown Twin Falls. If visitors are looking for a place to eat, Jake recommends they try Scooter's, a local bar and grille, 2nd South Market, which is a big food court, and Guppies Hot Rod Grille 2.0. One patron said that “The couple that owns and runs this campground are very helpful and friendly. They pointed out fun things the area has to offer for the days we were in town.”

Jake says that Twin Falls has multiple “mom and pop” shops like Suite 8 that feature local nick-nacks available for guests. In town, there is a visitor center that a relatively large amount of tourists visit to purchase souvenirs for their trip to Twin Falls, Idaho. The business is open year-round to visitors, with the best season of operation falling during the spring because Shoshone Falls is at its peak.

History

The Oregon Trail Campground has been around for a long time, according to Jake, one of the owners. Originally the establishment was operated as a family fun center, with an arcade and go-kart track. Eventually, the property began to be developed into an RV park, which took place about twenty years ago.

Jake and his wife were led to enter the lodging industry through a family business. The couple has owned the campground for the past three years. Since Jake and his wife took ownership, they have added the laundry room and kept it up to date. He was also the one to add the snack shack to the grounds and remodel the bathrooms and showers. Future plans include adding more bathrooms and showers, as well as new playground equipment. Jake says that his favorite part of the job is meeting new people from all different walks of life. He also mentions that his favorite thing in the area is Balanced Rock.
