Newberry RV Park

Newberry RV Park is a classic RV park that is located just off of Highway US-97 in central Oregon, USA. The property offers travelers a convenient area to park their RVs in the city of La Pine, which is found in the heart of Oregon. The establishment is catered mostly towards RVs. Most of the sites in the RV park are "back-in only," but they do also have a number of sites that have the ability for guests to pull through. It wasn't until a few years ago that Newberry RV Park was actually built and open to the public. Before then, it was just land with a few trees and grass.

About

Newberry RV Park can be considered a very classic example of the RV park industry. Guests are provided with a wide arrangement of essential amenities common to most recreational vehicle-based vacations, including full water and sewer hookups, free Wi-Fi, 30 and 50 AMP electrical services, showers, restrooms, free cable TV, and a coin-operated laundry facility. Currently, there are a total of 48 RV sites at Newberry RV Park, with most of them being back-in sites and several of them being pull-through slots.

The park sits directly off of the highway US-97, meaning that directions to the premises are relatively simple to follow. All of the driving is over paved roads, not dirt roads. Pets are not only allowed—but even encouraged—at Newberry RV Park. On the property, right next to the extra parking spaces, is a dog park for use at no additional cost. The owner and staff only ask that its guests respect the quiet hours of the park in relation to their pets and that they keep them close and clean up after them. The park is open at all times of the year, with the busiest time of the year being the summer months, which would include June, July, and August. Newberry RV Park is usually a little crowded with guests, so the owner recommends that potential visitors reserve a time well in advance to avoid any complications.

The website lists several options of places that guests can visit if they are looking for some unique sights and entertainment. One item on that list is Newberry Caldera, which is found east of the property and at the base of Paulina's Peak. The owner says that this monument grants an "excellent view" of rivers, lakes, caves, hot springs, ancient lava flows, and more that can be found in the surrounding area. Less than a ten-minute drive north, guests can find the meeting place for a six-mile biking and hiking trail that takes its travelers to six different waterfalls, two of which allow people to swim and play in.

Culture

The owner has stated that the desired culture at Newberry RV Park is one of relaxation as well as being clean. Guests have mentioned their appreciation of the conditions that the park was in when they visited, emphasizing the importance of having the bathrooms and other park services cleaned daily, as well as having most of these services within convenient reach from most areas of the property. The owner does ask that a level of respect be given to both the staff and other visitors by having various guidelines set in place to ensure that everyone is having a good time while not having to worry about personal belongings and the belongings of the property. This goal reflects the surrounding environment of central Oregon, which is to create a place of tranquility and an appreciation for the outdoors. One guest said in their review, "Nice clean park with good amenities and right in the middle of all the central Oregon attractions."

There are a handful of activities that guests can choose to take part in, such as the Sunriver Resort. This attraction is located about 20 minutes away from the Newberry RV Park and offers guided trail horse rides, whitewater rafting, various miles of biking and hiking paths, golf courses, paddle boarding, and both indoor and outdoor pools. The demographic that most frequently passes through the area, and is more likely to find Newberry appealing, is young adults and families. The owner, Lucas Nelson, describes the type of people he most often sees as "outdoor and recreation enthusiasts."

History

Newberry opened for operation sometime around 2017, having opened its doors close to 4 years ago. This happened after the previous establishment on the property went out of business and suffered foreclosure.

The government had taken control over the land for some years until Lucas Nelsen, the current owner of Newberry RV Park, bought the property and founded the business that is currently there today. Before it was in operation as a business in any capacity, it was simply a part of the forest landscapes that can be found all over central Oregon.
