About

Mountain View RV Park is located in southern Arizona near the city of Sierra Vista and Tuscan. The surrounding area is mountainous as the park is near Apache Peak and Coronado National Forest. The campground is mostly open, with a few trees and bushes offering shade around the campground. There are 83 sites on the property divided into sizes for larger, regular, and smaller-sized rigs. Mountain View has ten large sites with full hookups, including water, sewage, and electricity with 50 amp services. The sites are typically for larger RVs and trailers, all of which are pull-through. There are 49 other pull-through sites for regular-sized trailers. Each of these sites has full hookups with water, sewage, and electricity. Of the 49 sites, the majority have capabilities for both 50 and 30 amp services, while some have one or the other. The rest of the sites are back-in only and are typically for regular-sized and smaller RVs. Some sites have picnic tables or trees and patrons can make requests for these sites if they desire the extra amenities. Tent camping is also allowed on the property in a designated area at the back of the park, which has hookups for water only. The park typically only allows four groups in the area at a time, and tent campers may only stay up to 3 days maximum on the property.

Mountain View RV Park has several facilities on the property. A clubhouse is available to all visitors and also includes the main office and lobby, where guests can learn more about the area. The clubhouse has a community kitchen guests can use for activities or for cooking a meal. The kitchen has a refrigerator, microwave, oven, stove, and pots and pans. Additionally, the clubhouse has a lending library, a TV, and a lounge area that includes puzzles, card and board games, a dartboard, and a selection of DVDs guests can borrow. Near the lounge area is a crafting area, where occasional activities are held at the park. Guests frequently visit the clubhouse, and many of the common activities are held there, such as dominos every Thursday in the afternoon, and bingo, which is occasionally held on Fridays once or twice a month. There are two bathhouses, and each includes showers and a small laundry facility. The Laundry machines are coin-operated, and guests will need to bring their own soaps to use them. A unique feature of one bathhouse is a gym or workout area with various exercise machines and equipment available.

Visitors often come to the region for outdoor activities. San Rafael Natural Area and Coronado State Forest are common areas where guests can hike, bike, and go jeeping. Bird watching is also a popular activity in the region and is common among patrons at the park. Tombstone, Bisbee, and Sierra Vista are popular towns to visit for dining, museums, and shopping in the area. Guests have also been known to visit Mexico and other attractions along the border.

Culture

Mountain View RV Park strives to create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The staff mentions that they enjoy getting to know the guests and make an effort to interact with them and answer questions that they may have about the surrounding area and the campground. Mountain View holds several events throughout the month, hoping that visitors and residents will get to know one another. Occasionally, during major holidays and sporting events, patrons may come together for pot lucks or other activities at the clubhouse. In the crafting area, occasional activities or classes are held that teach about various hobbies. The staff mentions that the park is mostly known for the activities and events available to guests and remarks that many guests have often commented on them in the past. One guest said about their stay at the establishment, "The park has wide roads, and paved sites, pads, picnic benches, and our spot was very level. The park is very well organized and very quiet, especially considering how busy it is. The lady in the office was very nice, and the park was clean, as were the restrooms and the showers. We were fortunate enough to visit at the same time the Thunderbirds were there, so there were two free air shows daily."

The campground has several policies to help guests enjoy their stay at the park. Patrons are asked to follow a quiet time that is set between 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The park is pet-friendly, but patrons are asked to keep animals on a leash and to clean up after their pets. There is a pathway on each side of the park where dogs can be walked, and pets can play in larger grass areas than the site. The park also asks that guests do not smoke in public areas of the establishment and that patrons respect one another. The park is open year-round and is typically busiest during the winter and early spring season. The park has year-round residents; many are often more mature and typically help with some of the activities at the campground. Many other patrons at the park are seasonal guests, often from other states or military families. A number of these guests typically stay during the winter months when the weather in the state is fairer. During the summer months, visitors are often families and couples and typically stay for a month or less.

History

Mountain View RV Park was established about 30 years ago. Over the years that the park has been operational, there have been multiple renovations and changes that have taken place. Amenities such as the clubhouse and an extra bathhouse have been added. Also, some of the sites were made larger for extra accommodation for some who stay on-site. The current owners have had the property for a few years and strive to keep the property taken care of. They also have future goals to expand the property. In recent years, Mountain View RV Park has become more family-friendly and welcomes all to come and stay at the campground.
