Mountain Springs Lodge

Mountain Springs Lodge

Mountain Springs Lodge features nine total units available to guests for rent. The units are divided into three categories: lodges, cabins, and deluxe suites. Each unit includes a TV, and air conditioning is available throughout the property. Under the three suites is the Beaver Creek Lodge, where guests can have the opportunity to host a wedding or event. Hosting weddings is one of Mountain Springs Lodge's most notable characteristics as the property provides venues, catering, a cleanup service, and other wedding accommodations. The very first owners, a couple with a ranch-life background, moved to the valley in hopes of a fresh start, where they could still enjoy the countryside feel. Many visitors are drawn to the property's rural location, as well as the elegant rustic exterior style of the rentals. Leavenworth is about a 25 minute drive from the property, and the town occasionally hosts seasonal festivals with various activities.

About

Mountain Springs Lodge is located in central Washington, residing on 180 acres of land. The majority of the area surrounding the property is hayfields and mountainous land. Mountain Springs Lodge features three sizeable lodges, three relatively small cabins, and three deluxe suites. The three larger lodges are two stories high, with some including pool tables. A full kitchen is featured in every unit except the suites, and air conditioning is provided throughout the buildings on property. Located on the main floor is the main Beaver Creek lodge, under the three suites, and it is open to the public. The front desk area includes a gift shop that sells snacks, jewelry, and clothing such as sweatshirts and t-shirts. Furthermore, the property includes an espresso cart that sells pastries and breakfast burritos. Outside the lodges and cabins, there are two ponds stocked with rainbow trout. The owners can provide guests with fish food to feed the trout, however, they don't allow fishing in the ponds unless it's scheduled with the Fly Fishing Academy. Additionally, many hot tubs are available to guests on the property, as well as a swimming pool area. Although the property does not include firepits, guests could have the chance to rent a cauldron that can be brought to their lodge and allow them to use it the same as one would with a firepit.

The property is mostly known for hosting weddings and events. A barn area is open for guests to use for such events, as well as manicured fields, which the owners and staff work to maintain. Mountain Springs Lodge provides catering, alcohol, venues, tables, chairs, linen, a cleanup service, and an on-site coordinator for weddings. The property allows groups of about 50 to 200 people or smaller nontraditional weddings with fewer than 50 guests. Visitors who are hosting a wedding can book the weekend if necessary for a larger group. Mountain Springs Lodge gives guests the option to purchase a wedding package that provides an officiator, photographer, cake baker, florist, dinner options, and lodging for the bride and groom. The property is located approximately 14 miles from Leavenworth and about a 25 minute drive from several restaurants and breweries. Leavenworth includes a fair amount of wine tasting, restaurants, and places for shopping. A few nearby restaurants and breweries recommended by the owner include Larch Handcrafted Pasta & Cocktails, Yodelin, and Blewett Brewing Company.

Mountain Springs Lodge includes ziplines on the property with a nine-line course and a five-line course, which are both open to guests for an additional fee. The course is open from May through October and the property hosts about 12 tours on their busiest days, booking out as far as two weeks in advance during the busier seasons, which is typically during the summer. During the winter season, activities including snowmobile tours and sleigh rides are available. The snowmobile tours provided by Leavenworth Snowmobile tours are typically considered to be one of the most popular attractions on the property, and they are open from December to March. The tour leads from the main lodge, and guests could choose a tour length from an hour to three hours. Additionally, sleigh rides are open from late December to mid-February, and guests can book private sleigh rides if they desire.

Culture

Mountain Springs Lodge is open year-round. The majority of visitors are typically families or occasionally couples, with the busiest season of operation lasting from June through September. December can also be busy during the holidays. In the winter, the Plain Valley Nordic Skiing Trails allow guests to explore the trails at an additional cost. Leavenworth holds several festivals throughout the year, some of which include the Ice Fest held in January, the May fest in the spring, the Autumn Leaf in September, and the October Fest in October. Additionally, during the summer, the Fly Fishing Academy holds fly fishing tours at the property.
The owner describes the overall atmosphere of Mountain Springs Lodge to be warm and natural. The rural location of the property typically draws in guests who are looking for a getaway from urban areas and major cities, and because of this, the cabins are usually the more popularly selected units. Making visitors feel welcomed and comfortable during their stay is one of the owners' main goals when accommodating guests. One guest commented, "My husband and I got married here. Our 17 guests stayed on-site at various cabins for three nights and had a blast. We enjoyed the lodge's facilities - the large kitchen and living space let us all be together, but not cramped." The staff and owners want their visitors to feel relaxed and stress-free, especially those who are hosting weddings.

The property's policies ask that occupants stay at Mountain Springs Lodge for a minimum of two nights. The owners and staff want to keep the units clean for future visitors, and for this reason, pets are only allowed in the log cabin, with a max of up to two dogs.

History

Mountain Springs Lodge is currently a family-owned business that all began in 1895 when the first owner of the property, the family's great-grandfather, came into the valley with his wife, Elizabeth, with whom he was hoping to start a new life. He had missed being on the ranch back in Iowa, thus he began searching for a location that would be ideal for him to settle in. He was led to Beaver Valley, which at the time the homesteader was John Matthews. John was looking to sell the property, due to the lack of fur-bearing animals in the area. W.W. exchanged $1,000 for the property and became the new owner of a log home and three acres of land. The couple spent the rest of their lives in Beaver Valley, raising a family of six.

In 1990 the property started out as a retreat center, but in 1991, Mountain Springs Lodge became available for guests to stay. The current owners are the grandkids who inherited the property from their parents.

One of the additions made since the family took ownership of the property includes modifying their previous home into a lodge. The family had to live in the basement for almost a decade, during this time. They also added several more cabins to add to the small lodge and the two cabins that the property started with. In 2014 the zipline course and swimming pools were added to the property. The owner mentions that 1998 and 2004 were the years that Mountain Springs Lodge expanded the most. The property recently gained 40 more acres and the owners hope to add designated hiking trails to this newly acquired land in the future.
