As such, the busiest time of year typically occurs between Memorial Day and Labor Day, when the weather tends to be warmer.

About

Michigan City Campground is a rural camping facility that occupies over 40 acres of land near Michigan City, Indiana. The campground offers 150 units, with 10 being cabins and the remainder being campsites. Of the ten cabins available, they are split into three primitive sleeping cabins, two sleeping cottages, three deluxe cabins, a premium cabin, a premium cottage, and a two-bedroom cottage. One of the owners says that the primitive cabins are more simple compared to the others and are "best thought of as hard-sided tents." Deluxe cabins are equipped with a private three-quarter bathroom that has a sink, shower, and toilet. Additionally, the premium cabin, premium cottage, and two-bedroom cottage are designed in the style of a “tiny house,” as stated by one of the owners, and they include a full kitchen or kitchenette and a private bathroom. All cabin accommodations can sleep up to six people and offer a front porch, with the exception of the two-bedroom cottage.

Aside from the cabins, the property also has RV sites. The primitive RV sites include only a picnic table and fire pit. Water and electric units and full hookups are also available, all with 30- and 50-amp hookups. Those looking for the largest RV spaces will find that the premium units are larger than the other RV spots. Amenities that can be found around the campground include a fishing pond, swimming pool, playground, and half-court basketball. The property also has an onsite store that sells standard camping sundries such as RV equipment, snacks, and drinks.

There are a number of notable attractions in close proximity to the park as well. According to one of the owners, some of the most popular sites among guests are the Indiana Dunes State and National Parks, as well as Washington Beach. All three locations offer beach access to Lake Michigan, trails and paths to walk or hike, and elevated spots with views of the surrounding area. Michigan City also features a number of museums, shops, and restaurants. Some nearby dining options often recommended by the owners are Galveston’s Steakhouse, Royalle with Cheese, and Bridges Restaurant.

Culture

One of the owners of Michigan City Campground explains that the establishment is known for its welcoming atmosphere and "good vibe." The owners hope that guests will feel “like they are part of the family” during their stay. Their staff strives to make sure that guests have a relaxing experience while staying at the campground. Many former guests have left positive reviews of their stay at the campground. These reviews often mention the cleanliness of the park, saying it was “clean and well-kept” and that “the grounds were well maintained, green, and beautiful.” Another patron expressed their appreciation for the other buildings visitors have access to on the premises, noting that the main office “includes a selection of things to purchase” and has a “game room with a pool table, ping pong table, and foosball table,” with a “nice size heated pool” outside of the office. Most guests are also attracted to the property because of its proximity to nearby beaches and Michigan City proper.

There are a few important policies that those staying at Michigan City Campground are asked to follow to ensure a peaceful and enjoyable stay for all guests. For example, a quiet time begins at 11:00 p.m. and continues until the following morning in order to provide guests with the opportunity to have a peaceful and restful environment during their stay. The campground is pet-friendly, allowing pets to stay with guests as long as they are leashed and cleaned up after. Smoking is permitted on the grounds; however, it must be done outside of and away from the buildings.

Most frequently, the busiest time of year for the property is from June to August, or more specifically, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, according to the owner. During these peak months, guests can enjoy the campground’s range of activities and amenities, including the swimming pool, fishing pond, playground, and half-court basketball located around the premises. The onsite store also sells basic supplies one may need for camping, which makes it easier for guests to purchase items they may have forgotten or need for their stay. Regarding the amenities and the park’s location, the owner mentions that they want guests to have a relaxing experience during their stay. It should be noted that the campground is not open year-round for camping. With that being said, the cabins can be reserved at any time.
