Log House RV Park & Campground

Log House RV Park & Campground is located less than a mile north of Enterprise, Oregon. Thirty-four full-hookup sites are available for rent and bathroom/laundry facilities are provided on the grounds for guest use. Todd Morrow, the current owner, first acquired the acreage in 2018 and he now runs the business with his oldest daughter, Caitlyn. The owners have the goal of creating a family-friendly atmosphere and a place that occupants can feel comfortable in during their stay. The summer season is typically when the campground receives the most amount of visitors. Log House RV Park is located in close proximity to the Eagle Cap Mountains. Many people come to visit the nearby hiking trails at the state parks and wilderness areas.

About

Log House RV Park & Campground is situated on seven acres of land, featuring a total of 34 RV sites. A main office building, a laundry facility, an RV/boat storage area, and bathrooms are provided on the acreage. Many on-site activities such as playgrounds or horseshoes are provided for younger visitors. The RV sites are full hookups with electric, water, and sewers. Additionally, Wi-Fi is available on the premises.

A quarter of a mile north of the property is a small town with shops or restaurants that guests can explore. A state park and lake are approximately seven miles south of the campground, offering outdoor recreation such as hiking, kayaking, and other similar water activities. Three national forests and wilderness areas are located within 7-10 miles of the establishment and, according to the owner, several opportunities for hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, and guided tours are available at these national forests. Eagle Cap Mountains tends to be one of the main draws to tourists within the area. The owner additionally mentions that some previous patrons have used Log House RV Park as a "base camp" as they explore the area.

For those who are searching for dining options, Todd, the current owner of Log House RV Park & Campground, recommends visitors to three nearby restaurants. The first one is called Cheyenne CafĂ©, located in the city of Joseph less than a fifteen-minute drive away. Terminal Gravity Brewery & Pub is the second option, which is in Enterprise and offers lunch and dinner options. Lastly, the owner directs those who would prefer a takeout meal to Heavenly's, which serves pizza and hamburgers.

A tramway by one of the nearby state parks can take individuals from the bottom of the mountain to the top, expanding to about a 7,000-foot ride. During the summer is when people typically come to experience the tramway. Furthermore, the owner mentions that there are currently two railroad rides in close proximity to the property. For those who are staying at Log House RV Park & Campground and are hoping to spend time outdoors, a golf course open for public use is located within a mile of the park. The Eagle Cap Excursion Train that runs throughout the area is another attraction available to visitors. The city of Joseph is home to many artists, according to the owner. The local bronze foundries provide tours there and visitors can take a stroll to view the sculptures in town. Additionally, several boat rentals, as well as night tours, are available in close proximity to the nearby lake.

Culture

The owner, Todd, strives to help his guests feel welcome and comfortable enough to be able to ask questions and communicate with him if there are potential issues. In an attempt to achieve this goal, Todd tries to interact and have one-on-one communication with guests as often as possible. Many previous visitors comment on the owner's service. One particular patron remarked, "We were out exploring the area when a rainstorm came through and the owner actually took the time to cover the items that we had left on the picnic table with a tarp." Helping guests in any way that he can is one of Todd's main priorities.

Log House RV Park & Campground additionally hosts several celebratory events including weddings or family reunions. Each year in June, a motorcycle rally stays at the campground, and the owner mentions he enjoys having these types of groups visit the park. Some of the paved routes nearby that motorcyclists could visit include Joseph Canyon Overlook or Hells Canyon Scenic Byway. As for dirt roads, Hat Point, though it may be relatively steep, leads out of Imnaha, ending at an overlook. Another dirt road is Buckhorn Viewpoint, which offers similar views to Hat Point but isn't nearly as difficult or steep. In addition to the motorcycle rally, the owner supports a local car show that typically comes to stay at the park in August. Furthermore, in June, a rodeo called Bronson Bull is held, which is an event that draws in a number of people each year.

Pets are allowed to stay at the park, but must be kept on a leash and cleaned up after. Pets also must be relatively smaller in size. The campground enforces a quiet hour at 9:00 pm to try to help guests get the rest they may need. The overall atmosphere of the campground is generally laid-back, though, the owner mentions that unacceptable behavior is not tolerated on the premises. The owner remarks that they try to keep the campground family-friendly and the speed limits within the grounds are generally lower to aid in the safety of younger visitors who may be roaming the park.

The property's website and word-of-mouth have aided the success of the property, as the majority of those who frequent Log House RV Park & Campground have discovered the establishment through these elements. Todd says that he wishes more people knew about the park because of the surrounding area, which he believes offers many opportunities for outdoor recreation.

The best season of operation for Log House RV Park is typically April through September when the weather is relatively warmer. A fair amount of visitors come to stay at the campground during September and October for deer and elk hunting. The property also receives scout troops who come to experience the hikes along the mountains. The overall demographics for the RV park consist of people by the age of twenty years old to retired folks in their eighties. The owner says that he welcomes anyone who enjoys camping.

History

Four owners had owned the campground prior to the current owner. In 2018, Todd Morrow purchased Log House RV Park & Campground. The park had been there since 1985 before Todd acquired the land. He had gotten worn out from working in a manufacturing plant and decided to pursue a job that he enjoyed more and that would still supplement his income. He enjoyed camping so much that he decided owning a campground in the hospitality industry would be the most suitable position for him.

Since purchasing the property, the RV park has undergone several changes and a wide arrangement of additions have been made to the appearance of the grounds. The owner mentions that he has worked to improve the reliability of the property's water supply system and other elements of that nature. Currently, he and the staff are working to expand the backside of the park for extra room for RVs. The ability for full-time use of the park for visitors has been a benefit, according to Todd. He hopes to continue upgrading the campground with the intention to progress the development of the property.
