About

The Lakeview Terrace Resort, located in Lewiston California, sits across the street from Lewiston Lake. The property has 30 RV sites and 15 cabins available for guests to stay at. Most of the RV spaces are double-wide in the hopes of providing patrons with more space and privacy. They also all come with a picnic table and a fire pit. Many who stay at the property set up a dining area or tent, due to the extra space available at each site. All of the various RV sites have full hookups of water, sewer, and power hookups of 30 and 50 amp options. The cabins range from one bedroom that sleeps two to cabins that have five bedrooms and sleep 10. Each of the 15 cabins is different in terms of size however, all of the cabins have a full-sized kitchen with appliances that guests can use during their stay. The bathrooms come stocked with linens but there is not a daily maid service for the cabins. There is climate control of heating and cooling in every cabin as well. On the exterior of the cabins, there are small porch areas that patrons can use.

On the grounds of the resort, there is a store where guests can purchase various items. The store sells art pieces from local artists, as well as crafts that patrons can make while staying at the property, and snacks. Also at the Lakeview Terrace Resort, there is an outdoor amphitheater that hosts music festivals at different times throughout the year. In addition, there is a playground, tree fort, and pool on the premises. The land on which the resort resides has a variety of trees and other flora and fauna. Guests have mentioned different woodland animals being seen from the property, including deer. Lake Lewiston is located across the street from the grounds of the resort and many who visit the property go to the lake to fish. Common to the area is hunting, fishing, hiking, and other various outdoor activities. The land that surrounds the resort is near the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

At the Lakeview Terrace Resort, there are policies that the owners ask all guests to abide by. One policy is a quiet time of 10 PM every night. Additionally, fires are allowed during most of the year, but due to the environment around the resort, the owners ask that visitors be very cautious and careful with their fires to preserve the land and the property. According to the owner "well-behaved dogs are allowed in specific cabins." There are no cats allowed in the cabins, but any animal is allowed to stay with its owners in an RV. Lastly, a two-night minimum stay is required to stay in cabins at the resort, and a one-night minimum is required for those staying in RVs.

Culture

The goal of the owners of the Lakeview Terrace Resort is to have a place where families with kids can come to visit and enjoy the outdoors together as a family. They want to build a sense of community at the resort. To help with this during evenings when the weather is nice, the resort hosts a "campfire karaoke" with live guitars. Ryan and Jordan, the owners, have a "substantial song list that guests can pick from, and then all the people who are there can sing-along around the campfire."

During a guests' stay at the Lakeview Terrace Resort, the owners hope that patrons can feel comfortable and relaxed. They strive to interact with other visitors and the staff as much as they can. All of the people who work at the resort live on-site. Those who work at the premises are open to leading guided hikes, helping to plan day trips in the area, as well giving recommendations in the area. Jordan says "we just want to help people get as much out of the area as they can. We want to help them discover something magical in the area."

The resort is open year-round and is generally busiest during the summer months of June, July, and August. Jordan remarks that fall and spring are good times to visit the area because "it is not so hot and also not as crowded during those seasons."  She says that fall and spring have "different things to offer in terms of natural beauty." Besides the area itself, the property is known for its amphitheater. The business has live bands perform on the property in the amphitheater, which Jordan believes leads to the uniqueness of the property.

Many of the visitors who stay at Lakeview Terrace Resort remark on the "natural beauty" that is found in the area. Others comment on the hospitality of the staff, the cleanliness of the cabins, and the events that happen on the grounds. One guest said "They have a little store on the resort with anything you might have forgotten at home. You can rent kayaks here and go to the lake that is just across the street. We got to see deer all the days of our stay in the evening."

The area surrounding the property has a long history of mining and of having many national forests. While in the area, the owners recommend visiting the town of Weaverville. The town has a long history of mining and it also has a Buddhist Temple that many guests have enjoyed visiting. Ryan and Jordan also recommend visiting the township of Lewiston, which has multiple sites where mining was very popular. Some places to eat in the area include the Mountain Valley Grill, the Lewiston Hotel, and the Smokehouse Market.

History

Ryan Cinelli and Jordan Snow, the current owners of the Lakeview Terrace Resort, have owned the property for the past four years. They purchased the resort in March of 2018, but the resort has been functioning for many years before they operating it. The business originally opened in the mid-1960s, and the original owners of the property, Herb and Virginia Vanderwall, ran the business for 45 years. Ryan and Jordan are the third owners of the Lakeview Terrace Resort. After taking a five-week RV trip across the country with their two dogs, Ryan and Jordan decided they loved the industry and wanted to be a part of it.

Although the cabins were built a long time ago, they have been updated to modern standards with the addition of climate control, as well as new flooring, and other updates in an effort to help guests feel comfortable during their stay. Even before the cabins were built, the land was a quartz mine, and the business today sits on the old mine. The area around the resort is known for old gold mines as well as quartz mines.

In the future, the owners hope to add more music events to the schedule. Moving forward, they hope to build up the community around the property and help patrons who stay to feel part of the family environment. Jordan said that they hope to make the property "ideal for family reunions and group retreats," by adding more music and group events on the premises.
