Lakeridge RV Park

Lakeridge RV Park is located in Gun Barrel City, Texas, which is found near the eastern side of Cedar Creek Reservoir. The property is open year-round and offers about 50 spaces for guests to reserve, many of which are meant for long-term stays, though the business is able to do short-term as well. There is a small pond that allows visitors to catch and release fish without having to go outside of the grounds. Cedar Creek Reservoir is relatively larger in size, and people can catch bigger fish at the lake. Due to the location of the business, there are many places that are within walking distance, including restaurants and the hospital. Lakeridge RV Park has been in business since the 70s.

About

Lakeridge RV Park offers about 50 units of RV spaces. According to one of the staff members, Judy, the size of the spaces vary, though they provide the same amenities to everyone. Each of the RV sites has full hookups, including water, sewage, and electricity. Some of them only come with a maximum of 30 AMPs of electricity, while others are able to go up to 50 AMPs. Most of the RV spaces are equipped and designated for long-term stays, but there are three sites offered that allow for short-term stays as well. Everyone staying on the property has access to Wi-Fi and the small fishing pond that can be found near the middle of the grounds. Besides the places for RVs, there are also several buildings that guests can use, including the laundry room, meeting room, showers, and an office. People can rent the meeting room and use it for activities like hosting a group dinner.

The pond is filled with catfish, giving visitors the chance to do some fishing while they are staying at Lakeridge RV Park without having to leave the land. There is a 'catch and release' policy for those fishing in the pond. Several trees grow on the property, giving guests several places for shade on sunny days.

Gun Barrel City is found on the eastern edge of Cedar Creek Lake, which is over 32,000 acres in size and allows people to spend time fishing, water skiing, boating, and other water-based recreational activities. There are a variety of places and restaurants in Gun Barrel City, and "Lakeridge RV Park is right in the middle of town," according to the owner. She explains that there are many places where guests do not require a car and can just walk to instead. A hospital can be found close by in case of emergencies, and there are about five churches as well. Two gas stations, a Family Dollar, Dollar General, and a number of restaurants like Hector's Mexican Restaurant, Lakeside Café, and Huddle House are all a relatively short distance from Lakeridge RV Park.

Culture

Judy, the one leasing the property, explains that she wants her guests to feel safe and comfortable. To help them feel that way, she makes sure to watch the park and tries to make sure that there is not anything wrong. "If there is an issue, even late at night, my goal is to resolve it quickly," says Judy.
There are a few policies that Lakeridge RV Park requires guests to act in accordance with during their stay. Smoking is not allowed inside any of the buildings, but guests can smoke in their campers if they would like. Pets are allowed on the property as long as they are on a leash, and the business has a limit of two dogs per site maximum. Finally, quiet time begins at 10:00 in the evening and ends at 6:00 in the morning.

The property is open year-round. Though January and February tend to be slower than other months, it remains consistently busy throughout the year. A member of the staff reports that there have been a number of people from California, Canada, and other out-of-state places that stay at the property, many of which are actively trying to buy a house while they are staying at the RV park.

Older people typically make up the general demographic, although Judy, one of the staff at Lakeridge RV Park, mentions that they also tend to receive a variety of people ranging from older and younger people as well as families and couples. The business sees many repeat guests and has even had some visitors that have been coming since the 80s. People typically visit because of the lake and to see family in the area.

The business has received a number of reviews over the years, with one of the most commonly mentioned things by previous patrons being that the location is ideal. One person that recently stayed at the RV park left a review that reads, "It's a quiet place. There are all kinds of restaurants nearby, and Walmart is just down the road." One of the unique aspects of the property is that it is close to Cedar Creek Lake, which is one of the biggest draws for people visiting Gun Barrel City, according to the owner.

History

The current owner of Lakeridge RV Park has owned the land and RV park since the 1970s. It was not until 2018 that Judy began running the property in the owner's stead. Next to this business, Judy and her husband run another business called Gun Barrel Computers. Judy's husband has gone to school and learned about building and managing networks for computers, consequently, he runs Gun Barrel Computers while Judy manages the RV Park.

In the time that she has been running the property, Judy has made a few updates, including repairing the roof of the laundry room. As she is currently leasing the property, Judy is unable to make future plans for the property but explains, "If I am given the opportunity to buy this place, I will."

Judy, one of the supervisors of Lakeridge RV Park, explains that she got into the business because she had been leasing another building, which she uses for the RV park, from the current owner of the land. After she was required to move for personal reasons, the owner offered this property, not only as a place for her to move to but also as a place for her to lease and run another business. One thing that she most enjoys about running Lakeridge RV Park is meeting and visiting with the people that stay at the RV park.
