Lake Limestone Campground and Marina

Lake Limestone Campground and Marina

Lake Limestone Campground and Marina is just 30-minutes off of the 45 interstate and is located in Jewett, Texas. Jewett is an hour and a half drive east of Waco, Texas. This small town is run by an oil refinery and started as a coal mining town in the 1800s. It has remained close to its original size, as the large cities in Texas have grown around it. The campground is located right next to Lake Limestone, giving the option to guests at the campground to go and visit the lake to participate in the various activities that can be found there.

About

Lake Limestone and Campground has 38 RV sites, 13 tent sites, 13 cabins, and a house—all of which visitors are welcome to rent. Of the 38 RV sites, 32 of them have electric, water, and sewer facilities available for use. The remaining six have the same features with the exception of the sewer hook-ups. All but one of the tent sites has water and electricity provided. Every cabin has tables and beds without linens provided. Some of the cabins have more features and amenities provided as well, giving a wider range of vacationing options to guests staying at this campground.

The property has its own convenience store. Here guests are able to find various kinds of food, toiletries, fishing gear, and alcohol. The convenience store also gives guests the opportunity to purchase a fishing license if they lacked one before arriving at the property. If guests are looking for somewhere on the property that they can eat, the store also has a diner that is open throughout the day. At the diner, they serve pancake breakfasts, hamburgers, steak dinners, and more.

The property is known for its lakeside campgrounds, beach, and boat ramp. Many of the guests have left reviews about how they enjoyed the pier that is provided by the campground and their fishing experiences. Visitors can swim, listen to live music, and take part in the small town's solitude. The campground is at a location where guests can drive to Dallas, Austin, or Waco in just a couple of hours, leaving the option for visitors to go and see some of the big cities in Texas. Though the campground is open year-round, guests who would like better weather and fishing are suggested to come between the months of March and September.

Culture

The property, according to the staff and management of Limestone campground and Marina, strive for a fun and family-friendly culture. The owner, Ian Bird, says, "I want the campground to be a safe and relaxing place for big families and more intimate gatherings. Guests should leave feeling more relaxed than when they arrived." Visitors who have left reviews about the property have reported that they enjoy coming to the campground because of its lakeside views and the escape it provides from big cities. Those who go to this site tend to be more outdoor types of people who are looking for an escape from the big cities that are around them. Many of the guests who go to Lake Limestone choose to spend time out at the lake, usually fishing and some boating.

History

Lake Limestone Campground and Marina has been in business since the early 1980s. The former owners, the Engles, had a similar vision for the property as the current owner has: mainly that they wanted the property to be mostly focused on serving the local community. When the property was sold to Ian Bird, the current owner, in 2017, he started to update the grounds, adding various things that are used today.

Ian got into the campground industry because it was the type of project he wanted to be involved with. He likes boating, fishing, and the outdoors, so he wanted to create a place where other people could have those same positive experiences. Lake Limestone Campground and Marina is now a place where all of those activities can be found and that others can participate in.
