About

Lake Falling Star RV Resort is situated on a private 41-acre lake. With a total of 45 to 50 units, the resort strives to provide a "cozy and intimate environment" for its guests, according to the owner. The RV sites at Lake Falling Star RV Resort are equipped with full hookups, in an attempt to ensure a comfortable and convenient experience for visitors. Each site features a gravel pad with a camper, accompanied by relatively spacious concrete patios. Some sites include full concrete pads and shade trees, while others have covered areas to protect RVs from the sun. Lake Falling Star RV Resort also features three cottages available for long-term rentals. These cottages can offer a separate and private accommodation option for those seeking extended stays.

In addition to the RV sites, Lake Falling Star RV Resort offers a special event center, catering to various functions and gatherings. While weddings were previously popular, the resort now focuses on hosting women's retreats and crafting events. The goal is to attract RV clubs and caravans, providing them with a venue for their activities.

The resort offers laundry facilities with front-end loaders and dryers. Although the resort does not have a store on the property, visitors can find nearby amenities for their convenience. While the resort does not provide boat rentals or allow motorized watercraft on the lake due to insurance regulations, guests are welcome to bring their own kayaks and canoes. The owners say that fishing is also a popular activity among patrons.

The surrounding area offers additional attractions for guests to explore. McMahon is a relatively small town with a convenience store that resembles a grocery store, as mentioned by the owner of the RV park. A highlight of the town, according to the owner, is a pizza place located in the old post office, "renowned by many for its Chicago-style pizza." The owner says that visitors from various cities, including San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas, make the trip specifically for the pizza. She also notes that the vicinity is home to several barbecue restaurants that have been featured on the Travel Channel.

Located in an area with numerous attractions, the owner says that Lake Falling Star RV Resort draws visitors who are interested in exploring the local offerings. One attraction is the Barbecue Trail, which features four out of the six barbecue places that have been featured on the National Travel Channel. In addition to the Barbecue Trail, the region hosts various festivals and events, such as the Formula One races, Old Settlers Music Festival, Shiner Bike Ride, Chisholm Trail Festival, and Watermelon Festival.

Culture

The primary goal at Lake Falling Star RV Resort, according to the owner, is to create an atmosphere of "relaxation and appreciation for nature." The resort tries not to impose excessive interaction with guests, respecting their desire for privacy while remaining available for conversations and assistance when approached by visitors. One former patron mentioned in a review, "The hosts are professional and friendly and gave us an excellent recommendation for a local pizza place that we would have never found."

While Lake Falling Star RV Resort does not currently host specific events or activities on-site, the owners are keen on expanding their offerings to include women's retreats and relatively smaller RV club gatherings. The owner says that these events aim to provide a more intimate experience for those seeking a sense of community and shared interests. They also mention that the resort's focus is on creating a stress-free environment where guests can "unwind and engage in leisurely activities such as reading, walking, and enjoying the lake's serenity."

Regarding policies, the resort is a pet-friendly establishment, welcoming animals as long as they are not on the insurance-restricted list. Visitors are expected to clean up after their pets, and they are welcome to take their dogs to the lake where off-leash activities are permitted. Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. in an effort to maintain a peaceful atmosphere for all guests. Smoking is allowed on the property, provided that people dispose of their cigarette butts responsibly.

Lake Falling Star RV Resort operates year-round, catering to patrons in all seasons. The resort experiences consistent visitor traffic throughout the year, with no particular peak season. A diverse range of visitors is welcome at the resort, including families, couples, and individuals of different ages. The demographic is a mix of people, with a noticeable presence of couples and retirees. The resort also prides itself on receiving a number of repeat guests who appreciate the experience the park offers.

History

The history of Lake Falling Star RV Resort dates back to circa 2005 when the property was established. According to the owner, the resort was born out of a desire to "counteract the negative consequences of a nearby development that resulted in densely packed lots with trailer houses and limited lake access." The owners purchased numerous two-acre lots and gradually expanded their land holdings to encompass the current 68-acre resort. Starting with just 10 sites, the resort has steadily added more sites and amenities in an effort to enhance the guest experience. Notable changes include reshaping the lake and creating jetties to provide fishing opportunities. Retirement is a future plan for the owners, as they look forward to eventually stepping back from the day-to-day operations.
