JB's RV Park and Campground

JB’s RV Park and Campground is located in Hoquiam, Washington, a city found near the edge of the ocean next to North Bay. The business is within walking distance of various attractions, restaurants, and the sea, which has a beach where visitors can drive vehicles along the sand. Patrons can choose to reserve a tent space or bring their RVs and reserve an RV slot. RV spaces come with full hookups, and both tent and RV areas have a fire pit and picnic table. The owners of the property would like their guests to feel comfortable, and they make an effort to create an environment that is family-friendly. JB’s RV Park and Campground is pet-friendly as well, though they require that dogs are kept on a leash at all times. The current owners are also the original owners of the campground, having opened to the public in 2012.

About

JB’s RV Park and Campground has a variety of stays available, including tent locations and RV spaces. There are a total of 42 places to pitch a tent and 41 areas to park an RV. The RV sites are equipped with full hookups, including water, sewer, and electricity. Some of them supply 30 amps of electrical service, while others can power up to 50 amps of electricity. Regardless of whether guests are staying in a tent or an RV, the spaces also come with a picnic table and a fire pit. It should be noted as well that a basic cable subscription with several channels is available for those with a TV. Restrooms and showers are provided on-site for patrons staying in either accommodation, and the owner mentions that the bathrooms are handicap accessible.

The property as a whole resides on about 15 acres of land. The main office can be found near the entrance where people check in and out of their sites. It also serves as a place where people can purchase minor items that they may have forgotten to bring for their trip. A few items that can be purchased include body wash, shampoo, toothbrushes, knickknacks, firewood, and ice. While the property does not own any lawn games, guests are welcome to bring their own and use the grassy area to do their own activities. The outdoor areas have a combination of grass, gravel, and paved land, which can give patrons a more comprehensive range of activities.

JB’s RV Park and Campground is located near the ocean, and the owners mention that it is “roughly a two- or three-minute walk to the water.” Moreover, according to one of the owners, many gas stations and convenience stores are nearby. Other places within relatively close proximity include several biking and walking trails. Aside from outdoor recreation, there are a variety of dining options in the vicinity as well, and a couple that the owners enjoy mentioning by name to their patrons are Dugan’s Pizza and Bennett’s Fish Shack.

Culture

The owners of JB’s RV Park and Campground would like their patrons to feel comfortable during their stay. Their goal is to create a family-friendly environment. In an effort to foster this atmosphere at their business, the owners provide a telephone number to their guests, with the intent to facilitate accessibility to the owners in case of an emergency. According to one of the owners, they also make daily rounds to speak with their patrons and answer any questions that they might have.

JB’s RV Park and Campground has hosted a variety of events and activities. According to one of the owners, they have held family reunions and weddings in the past. The business also hosts several events during holidays, including Seahawk Weekend and Fourth of July. Oftentimes, the holiday events are open to the public and not just to those staying at the campground and RV park.

There are several policies that visitors should be aware of when they arrive to fulfill their reservation. The posted speed limit across the property is five miles per hour. Another important policy for the business is that it is pet-friendly, however, dogs must be kept on their leashes at all times. Quiet time typically begins at 8:00 p.m. each evening, though in the summer, the rule changes to 10:00 p.m. Lastly, one must be over the age of 18 to make reservations at JB’s RV Park and Campground.

Patrons who have visited the establishment have left reviews of their experience. One person who recently stayed there wrote, “We always stay in the dry camping area right on the dunes, and we have really enjoyed it. There is a short trail that goes right to the beach. We had no neighbors (pretty surprising), and the sunset was amazing.” The business is open year-round, with the busiest season of operation most commonly occurring during the summer, specifically in June, July, and August—as observed by the owner. “Basically, from Memorial Day to Labor Day” the property is the busiest, the camp host explains.

History

JB’s RV Park and Campground has been in business since February 2012. The company's current owners are also the original owners, having renovated and opened it themselves. They explain that they decided to enter the camping and hospitality industry because “it was the right place at the right time.” While they were the company's original owners, the establishment was owned by someone they regularly did business with. The owner explains that they sold “firewood and theater products” until the man wanted to sell the property, and they decided to purchase it.

Before the current owners acquired the land and turned it into JB’s RV Park and Campground, the establishment was being used as a smaller RV park that had a bar and restaurant. The owners state that it has “always been an RV park.” The area was first used as an RV park in the 70s, and before that, the land was not used for commercial purposes.

Over the years, the owners have made a variety of changes to the land and business. Recently, the owners updated the septic and water systems that guests hook up to their RVs, and they installed new electrical power stations and cables on the sites. The restrooms were also an addition that they made to the grounds soon after they became the new owners.

There are plans for future renovations, as one potential upgrade includes completely removing one of the buildings already on the property and rebuilding it to become a recreational center with a lounge, refreshments, and activities, such as pool tables. Furthermore, they would like to add between eight and ten more RV spots and extend the tent sites to fit more occupants at a time.
