Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort sits right on the water's edge of Hilton Head Island—which is surrounded by water that stems directly from the Atlantic Ocean. It is a defining feature of the island because it has many of the island's biggest attractions.

Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort and Marina is found on the western fronts of the town/island. The property offers 200 RV sites, 13 of which are waterfront sites. At each site, there is a concrete pad for recreational vehicles of 55 feet by 20 feet. All of the sites have 30/50 AMP electricity hook-ups. There are small grassy plots of ground between each site, though the surrounding environment is semi-tropical with the occasional palm tree. There is a store on-site with the basic necessities for vacationing, such as RV supplies and non-perishable food. The owners describe it more as a "boutique" than an actual retail location. One of the more distinctive features of Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort and Marina is the other attractions and amenities it offers in addition to its RV sites. For example, it hosts 100 boat slips and a ramp into the water. They have some boats for rent if guests do not have one of their own. Jet skis and other gear for water activities are also available for rent. Additionally, other water sports and activities are prevalent at Hilton Head Harbor. Parasailing is one such activity that is particularly popular among visitors. Other on-site activities include two saltwater pools, a gazebo, hot tub, tennis courts (with pickleball lines/nets), playground for children, saunas, laundromat, exercise room, and WiFi/cable TV. A five-star restaurant is located on the premises. One of the most unique aspects of Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort and Marina is its dolphin and mermaid tours. The dolphin tours are for visitors of all ages and are a reliable way to see interesting ocean animals and creatures. The mermaid tours are catered towards small children, especially girls. In these tours, the children learn about the mystical creatures before one actually shows up—a costumed professional that then teaches them about ocean life and the importance of preserving nature. The resort is open year-round, though the busiest months are from the middle of March to the middle of September.
With all of the many activities offered within the resort itself, it isn't surprising that the desired atmosphere at Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort is one of family fun and friendliness. With playgrounds and ocean tours available right in the park itself, families are a frequent demographic to the resort. Each site at Hilton Head is owned privately, meaning that when potential visitors make a reservation, they have the liberty to choose any of the sites that they wish. There is a personal marketing channel tied to this process, and guests have expressed their enjoyment at being able to choose freely where they'll be staying—a unique feature compared to most other RV parks. Hilton Head Harbor began over 30 years ago. At that time, the land was still relatively unmanaged, meaning that "a machete was required to cut through all the greenery," a manager of the property explains. It was an attractive location to start up a business in the campground industry, so the area was bought up, and soon Hilton Head Harbor was under the ownership of the Bentleys. This marked the first port on Hilton Head Island, and it was the only available dock for a few years. In 2018, the park was bought by Neil Turner, who currently owns the property.
