About

Hidden Meadows RV Park & Campground is a campground located in a rural area with a total of 141 units, including 132 RV sites and 9 tent sites. Out of the 132 RV sites, a mix of back-in and pull-through spaces are available on gravel pads, and all are full hookups. Each site has a picnic table and fire pit, providing visitors with the opportunity to cook and eat meals outside. The campground also has additional amenities such as Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, a game room, a rec hall where patrons can gather, and full-service restrooms with showers. The game room contains several electronic games, as well as a pool table and ping pong table. Other elements of the campground include a dog park, volleyball court, playground area, and outdoor games such as bean bag toss.

The campground is fairly spacious, as it occupies 37 acres of land in a relatively rural area. One of the standout features of the campground is its access to the Zumbro River, which Tracy, one of the owners, says people can use to "cool off on a hot summer day." She also mentions that the fork in the river is "shallow, clear, and refreshingly cool all summer." The campground also has a gazebo with outdoor games, and oftentimes food trucks come to the campground on weekends, providing visitors with the opportunity to enjoy a variety of meals without leaving the campground.

The park is located near several nearby communities, including Pine Island, Oronoco, and Rochester, where guests can find restaurants, theaters, and shopping. The surrounding area offers attractions such as Gold Rush Days in Oronoco and several breweries and wineries, namely South x Southeast Brewing Company in Pine Island. A few of the restaurants that the owners recommend to their campers include Tilly's Bar and Grill, Los Arcos Kitchen and Cantina in Rochester, Betty Sue's Better Brew Cafe, and Let's Go Tacos.

Culture

Hidden Meadows RV Park & Campground is a seasonal campground that is open from mid-April to mid-October. Guests at Hidden Meadows RV Park & Campground tend to be older adults, although families are also welcome. The owners of Hidden Meadows RV Park & Campground, Tracy, Daren, Corey, and Tanner, want to create a peaceful environment for campers who want to relax and unwind. One of the unique features of Hidden Meadows RV Park & Campground is its location. The campground is hidden away from the main road, and the river forms one of its borders.

As a family of campers themselves, Tracy, Daren, Corey, and Tanner—the owners of Hidden Meadows RV Park & Campground—try to be committed to creating a welcoming atmosphere for their visitors. They make an effort to greet people with a friendly demeanor and offer to help them with anything, especially if they are new to camping. Tracy remarks that they "try to prioritize making campers feel at home." As the owners try to create this atmosphere, they also intend to respect guests' privacy and give them space when they want it. Tracy further explains that the campground can offer "a balance of structured activities and the freedom to relax and enjoy the surroundings." One camper who previously stayed at Hidden Meadows RV Park & Campground commented in a review, saying, "We loved the fact that it is a perfect distance away from the cities and 10 minutes from Rochester. The sites are very well kept with full hookups, and the entire campground is all set up so nicely."

At Hidden Meadows RV Park & Campground, there are several policies in place, with the intent to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and respectful environment for all guests. Pets are allowed, but they must be kept on a leash and cleaned up after. Quiet hours are from 11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., during which time patrons are asked to keep noise levels down. Children are required to be at their sites by 10:00 p.m. unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. The speed limit throughout the park is five miles per hour, and golf carts are the only recreation vehicle that can be driven within the grounds. Moreover, smoking is only permitted outdoors and not in the common areas or buildings. The park reserves the right to remove anyone for inexcusable behavior for the safety and well-being of others. According to the owner, these policies are in place to help create a peaceful and respectful environment while providing a safe experience for campers.

On occasion, the establishment hosts a variety of events and activities throughout the year to keep guests entertained, including bean bag toss tournaments, a golf cart challenge, vendor expos, and live music on holiday weekends. During the Fourth of July weekend, they have a golf cart parade and fireworks show. Tracy, one of the owners of Hidden Meadows RV Park & Campground, believes that "these events provide opportunities for guests to socialize and get to know each other in a friendly environment." Hidden Meadows RV Park & Campground aims to create a fun and memorable experience for all of their patrons, whether they prefer relaxing by the river or participating in group activities.

History

Hidden Meadows RV Park & Campground was founded in 1965, and it was originally a farm. The previous owners turned the farm into a campground which gradually expanded over time. According to Tracy, the former name of the campground had Native American heritage to it, and the name "Hidden Meadows" came about between the years of 2005 and 2015. The area around it was previously inhabited by a Native American tribe known as the Wazionja people, as reported by Tracy. Tracy mentions that the Zumbro River, which runs through the campground, was a significant resource for the indigenous people who resided there for centuries.

The current owners, Tracy and Daren, and their sons, Corey and Tanner, purchased the campground in 2020. Tracy and Daren, who had been avid campers for over 22 years prior to their purchase, saw an opportunity to combine their love of camping with their business acumen and provide a peaceful environment for other campers. Before the purchase, the campground was in need of some updates and improvements, which the new owners were happy to provide. They added full hookups to all water and electric sites, new roads, and gravel pads for all weekend and monthly guests. Additionally, they added 19 new permanent seasonal sites, a new water line throughout the park, and various amenities such as a dog park and volleyball court. The owners, who also run an excavation company, have worked hard to maintain and improve the campground over the course of their ownership. In terms of future plans, Tracy mentions, "We believe in being environmentally aware, so we are currently looking into adding solar panels to support our electric usage."
