The Hava Space RV Park is located in Gravois Mills, Missouri, near the Lake of the Ozarks. It has a total of 32 accommodations, with 26 RV spaces and 6 cabins. Each RV space comes equipped with full hookups, and many also have a picnic table or firepit. The cabins vary in amenities they offer; however, each has electricity, private bathrooms, heating, and air conditioning year-round. Visitors can also find bathrooms with showers and coin-operated laundry facilities in the property's main office. Outside there is a pool that guests can use at their leisure between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The property is most popular in the summertime due to its proximity to the aforementioned Lake of the Ozarks. A notable feature of the RV park is that one can store their RV or boat on-site, which can be used whenever they visit the area.
Just off Highway 5 in Gravois Mills, Missouri, is the Hava Space RV Park. The property has a total of 32 accommodations, with 26 of those being RV spaces and 6 cabins. Each RV space comes equipped with full hookups, 30- and 50-amp power, and access to WiFi. Some also have a picnic table or firepit, depending on what site patrons stay in. The owner describes each space as simple, with the surrounding trees providing shade to almost all of the RV spots in some capacity. With regard to the cabins, one is designated as a long-term rental which is often reserved by yearly guests. The remaining five cabins all slightly differ in the amenities they provide. Three cabins have a full kitchen, while another provides a kitchenette. Depending on the cabin, a maximum of six people can stay in each accommodation. With that being said, all of the cabins benefit from having heating, air conditioning, and electricity year-round.
The total area of the RV park takes up 5 acres of the 15-acre property. A main office with an outdoor swimming pool, coin-operated laundry facilities, and bathrooms with showers are open for visitors to use at their leisure. The owner observes that many people travel to the park during the summertime to spend time on the nearby Lake of the Ozarks to engage in various aquatic activities and visit the Lake of the Ozarks State Park. As this is a popular activity for guests, Hava Space RV Park also offers RV and boat storage facilities for those who travel to the area and may wish to leave their vehicle there for the next time they visit.
Another attraction that Joy, one of the park’s owners, makes special note of includes visiting Osage Beach. The city, as the name suggests, is situated on the shore of Lake of the Ozarks and has access to the water via a marina, Bridgeview Marina, as well as through Osage Beach Park. She also recommends guests visit Haha Tonka State Park. There are also a variety of stores in town that guests tend to visit and shop at. For people desiring popular dining options in the area, Joy recommends they try Redd's Barbecue, Carmelita's, and Val’s, the latter being a local country restaurant and cafe.
Hava Space RV Park is most well known for being one of the oldest RV parks in the region as well as being a “quiet family park,” according to Joy. She hopes that her guests will feel “welcome and like they’re at home” when staying on the premises. In striving to create that atmosphere, she and the staff of the park make an effort to ask visitors if they would like any help getting set up in their RV space, and they can often be found elsewhere on the grounds should patrons need any additional assistance. The property has certain policies which they ask guests to follow during their stay to help maintain the quiet ambiance that Joy says the business is known for. These include following the designated quiet time from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., observing the five-mph speed limit, keeping pets on a leash, and cleaning up after pets. Above all else, Joy asks that her patrons “be respectful to your neighbors,” as there are some long-term residents who live at the park.
A number of reviews have been left by people who have stayed at Hava Space RV Park. The most common sentiment is that the park is clean and the location is convenient and quiet. One former patron said, “It's in a country setting on the quiet side of the lake but is also close to towns like Laurie, Gravois Mills, and Sunrise Beach. The owners, Don and Joy, are helpful and friendly.” Another person comments that they had a “clean campsite” and that they appreciated the laundry and bathroom facilities. Many guests also mention the property’s pool, which they can access between Memorial Day and Labor Day. While the most popular time for the park occurs in summer, it is open year-round and every site remains full-service regardless of the time of year.
The Hava Space RV Park was originally started around 40 years ago in the early 1980s. A number of owners have run the park since its opening, with the previous owners being Jeff and Suzanne Pointon. They sold the park to the current owners, Joy and Don Wilbourn, in February 2021. Prior to that, they had been living in Colorado in an RV park, and after some discussion decided that they wanted to run an RV park of their own. Joy and Don had previous experience in the construction industry, so upon purchasing the property, they made a number of updates and renovations to the guest accommodations and to the infrastructure of the park as a whole. They plan to increase both the number of RV spaces and cabins by expanding and utilizing more of the property’s unused acreage. Another goal that Joy has for the park is to begin hosting events for patrons around major holidays and at other times of the year, such as holiday meals or music nights with live performances from local bands.
