I can't say enough nice things about Roseanne, the property manager. She was very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. Beautiful spot and close to everything."
Visitors often come during the fall season as foliage and leaves are changing colors, and the weather becomes milder. There are generally more events and festivals in town during the summer and fall seasons, such as a large October festival and a Christmas festival. The property is open year-round, and with advanced notice, events may be held at the adjacent building owned by Brown County's Historical Society.
The Grand Wood Suites was constructed 20 years ago in the early 2000s. The current owner's family has been in the hospitality industry for many years. The great grandfather of the current owner was encouraged by a few friends to get started in the hospitality industry. He owned a hotel himself and the traditions of working in the hospitality industry passed from generation to generation. The parents of the current owner were approached one day by a relative of this same family friend about the hospitality industry. They offered them tips and constructed long-term rental condos, calling the building Hidden Valley Inn. For many years it served in this proposal until the current owners purchased the property from the family friend. The fourteen foot wide hallways, extra thick walls to keep things quiet, and access to every level without stairs were all original recommendations from the parents. The current owner, after purchasing the property, began making renovations starting with the third floor. In the near future, the second and third floors will be renovated and the hotel will be more modern in aesthetics.
