EZ Living RV Park is a 20-acre RV park that operates on 8 acres in Sandia, Texas. The RV park has 35 RV sites with full hookups alternating between 30- or 30- and 50-amp electrical service. Some units are pull-throughs, while others are back-ins. Additionally, the campground features a laundry room, access to a community boat ramp connected to Lake Corpus Christi, a community fireplace, and a gazebo with a barbecue pit. A volleyball court is set up during the summer, and long-term guests can receive mail and packages at the office. Six cabins are also available at EZ Living RV Park, though the majority are currently under renovation. According to Johnny Makuaole, the park's owner, the area's main draw is Lake Corpus Christi. There, people can enjoy boating, jet skis, kayaking, and swimming. Johnny says fishing is also a common activity, and people may expect to catch White bass, Largemouth bass, Alligator gar, Crappie, Catfish, and other fish species.
EZ Living RV Park is found in Sandia, Texas, near the edge of Lake Corpus Christi. The campground has 35 RV spots mixed between pull-throughs and back-ins. Each site has full hookups, eight equipped with 30-amp service and the rest with 30- or 50-amp power. Furthermore, some campsites have firepits or picnic tables. The park also has six 10-by-12-foot metal cabins with showers and bathrooms, though most are currently under renovation.
Other features throughout EZ Living RV Park include WiFi throughout the park, a laundry room, and access to a community boat ramp that is directly connected to Lake Corpus Christi. Full-time park occupants can accept mail and packages at the main office at the front of the property. The park also has a gazebo with a barbecue pit, a community fireplace, a fenced-in dog park, and a volleyball court set up during the summer. Grass and trees are spread throughout the acreage, providing some shade for a few of the RV sites. While the plot appears mostly leveled, a few areas slope to some degree. Johnny Makuaole, the property owner, explains that the park facilities encompass about 8 acres, but the entire property—including open space—is 20 acres. He also says EZ Living RV Park is in a rural area, with the closest convenience store about 5 minutes away and the closest town with a grocery store about 15 minutes away. Additionally, the nearest hospital is about 25 miles from the campground, and the area has a volunteer fire department that uses Lake Corpus Christi as a water source to fight fires.
Johnny notes that Lake Corpus Christi—which can be accessed by the property's boat ramp—is the area's most prominent attraction, providing a place to boat, jet ski, kayak, and fish. According to Johnny, fishermen may catch white bass, largemouth bass and crappie, gar, and other species at the lake. He also notes that alligators live in the lake, though they tend to stay in the lake's shallower "fingers" away from people. When the water level decreases, Johnny says alligators are more likely to be seen, and he advises people to stay clear of them. Referring back to other attractions, Johnny reports that the city of Corpus Christi is about forty-five minutes from EZ Living RV Park, and San Antonio is about an hour and a half away. Most dining attractions near the RV park are relatively small mom-and-pop restaurants, though Johnny recommends guests visit The Roux in Lagarto, Christina's Place or Margie's Fried Chicken in Orange Grove.
Johnny, the owner of EZ Living RV Park, wants his visitors to "have a good time" and feel safe while staying at his property. He tries to assist people if they need help with something, and he comments that he enjoys helping guests set up their RVs, especially if they're new RV owners doing it for the first time. Johnny remarks that a number of people appreciate the quietness at the RV park. One former occupant highlighted part of the campground's atmosphere: "The place was very clean and quiet, and another camper helped us get our camper parked in our spot, and everyone we met was very friendly, and the boat launch is kept up nicely."
Another former occupant touched on the park's features by saying, "[EZ Living RV Park is an] amazing place to park! [The owner] is kind and helpful. [The area is] quite peaceful and right off the water with a boat ramp and easy access to the lake. [There is a] large gated dog park perfect for the extended fur babies."
EZ Living RV Park's policies allow pets at the campground, and quiet time begins each night at 10:00 p.m. Regarding its operations, EZ Living RV Park is open year-round. Johnny states that both summer and winter are the property's peak seasons; summer brings vacationers, and winter brings snowbirds from the north.
According to Johnny, the park owner, the RV Park has been around since the 1980s. Pieces of the property were sold off over time until the marina was shut down in 2019. Before its closing, the marina doubled as a restaurant, bar, and dance hall. The dance hall was converted and utilized as a motel for a few years before being torn down and sold.
Johnny purchased the RV park as part of his retirement plan. After working in the oil industry for several years, he also wanted a "change of scenery" and a slower pace of life, so he acquired the property in 2019. Johnny remarks that his favorite part of running EZ Living RV Park is meeting other people, as he says, "[...] you see a lot of different people every day." He has received guests from Canada, Alaska, Europe, and Hawaii.
