Destiny McIntyre RV Resort

Destiny McIntyre RV Resort

The Destiny McIntyre RV Park is located near Blythe, California. The property itself is on the banks of the Colorado River and is next to the California/Arizona border. It has 192 spaces for guests, 175 of those spaces servicing long-term guests, and 12 spaces reserved for more short-term guests who stay for a few days. One of the most popular aspects of the park is the beach access it has to the Colorado River, along with its boat launch and fishing. Near the RV park is Joshua Tree National Park, which is well known for the Joshua trees that are its namesake, and other wildlife refuges where visitors can hike, camp, and ride off-road vehicles, among other outdoor activities. Many updates have been made to the park over its years of operation. The most recent renovation involved the installation of solar panels to provide power for the park.

About

Situated on the border between California and Arizona is the Destiny McIntyre RV Park. Because of its location, the property has direct access to the Colorado River. There is a boat launch that guests are able to use to launch watercraft they may bring as well as a beach on the river bank with trees providing shade and picnic tables spread across the beach. The entire property is paved with a large parking lot towards the river where guests can park their other vehicles.

There are a total of 192 RV spaces that are available for reservation at the park. 12 of those spaces are for daily or weekend rentals, while the remaining 175 are reserved for more long-term patrons. Every site comes equipped with 30 amp hookups and water as well as a free wireless internet connection. The long-term sites also have 50 amp hookups and sewer. While there is a dump station that guests can use at their convenience, the park also offers portable pump out to guests’ RVs for an additional price. Of all of the RV spaces, the 12 short-term spaces are all pull-through, while the long-term spaces vary based on the size of the space. For those who desire a more traditional camping experience, there are spaces set aside for tent camping both on grass and on the beach.

The park provides some additional amenities for all of the people who stay there. Shower houses are spread throughout the property for guests to use free of charge. Near the boat launch, gas is also available for guests to purchase for their boats, jet skis, or off-roading vehicles. The park also has a store connected to its main office, which sells various RV supplies and other groceries that guests might need over the course of their trip.

The closest city to the RV park is Blythe, California. While there, guests can find many different shops and restaurants to try. Chris, the manager of the Destiny McIntyre RV Park, recommends some restaurants that guests try while they stay in the area, namely Garcia’s Restaurant, A&R Bakery, and the Pizza Studio.

Culture

One of the most unique features of the property is its location on the Colorado River. As such, many of the long-term guests will host events, usually during the summer months, that are open to everyone at the park. For example, every Fourth of July, a large fireworks display is put on by a long-term resident across the river that can be viewed from the park’s riverbank. Fishing is also a popular activity during the summer on the river. The most common species of fish that can be caught are bass, catfish, and bluegill.

The atmosphere of the property is important to the staff of the Destiny McIntyre RV Park. Chris, the manager of the park, says, “I want guests to feel like it’s a great place to bring their kids and have a good time.” One of the things that Chris enjoys most about his job—which is also a goal of the property—is creating a friendly environment for both short-term and long-term visitors to the property.

There are many different positive reviews of the park. Various reviews of the property mention that they enjoyed having beach access to the Colorado River. Some past guests have commented on the cleanliness and maintenance of the grounds. Others have referenced the helpfulness of the staff when they had a problem arise. One guest said of their stay, “The people working here are friendly and there to help. They have clean restrooms, and they are close to the launch ramp for a convenient location. They have picnic benches, so when you are at the beach, you have a place to sit.”

People who stay at the property will frequently bring additional vehicles to use either on the Colorado River or at other locations around the region. A popular natural attraction for visitors to explore is Joshua Tree National Park for the notable Joshua trees that the park is named for as well as the hiking and camping that it offers. Those who bring off-roading vehicles can use them across the river in Arizona at the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge which, in addition to offering the chance to see various native wildlife, also has sand dunes and trails that can be hiked or driven on.

History

The Destiny McIntyre RV Park was originally opened in 1966. When the property first opened, it had only a handful of RV spaces, and the building that is now the store was an open pavilion that guests could use. Over time, many additions, updates, and upgrades have been added to the park to give it more modern amenities, such as building the main office and greatly increasing the number of units and the features of each unit specifically. The current owner, David, has continued to add on to the existing infrastructure. Recently the entire park was overhauled to run on solar power, and all of the showers were repaired and updated. Plans have been made to repave the property’s parking lot and to add additional spaces to the park in the future.
