Crescent Beach & RV Park

Crescent Beach and RV Park is a campground that has 24-acres of land, with a grand total of 50 sites that are available throughout the property, which is located in Port Angeles, Washington, near the Olympic Peninsula. Crescent Beach and RV Park privately own their own beach that stretches across more than a half-mile of the coast, which is available for guests to use if they are currently staying on the property. Of the available sites for stay, most of them are RV sites, but there are also a couple of cabins and several tent locations as well.

About

Crescent Beach and RV Park have 24-acres of land, with 50 sites total that are open to the public. Of those sites, 34 of them are full hookup RV sites that offer water, electrical, and sewage stations. Each site comes with picnic tables and fire pits, and horseshoes are near each location that is available to campers throughout the day. The other areas include 14 tent sites and two cabins, with each one containing several amenities. Each tent site has private beach access, as well as a picnic table, fire pit, restrooms, and coin-operated showers and laundry units.

The two cabins on the property are fully furnished with kitchenettes and bathrooms, along with the bedroom. The first cabin, which is called Sandpiper Cottage, can hold up to four guests, while the other cabin, called Kingfisher Cottage, can hold up to six people. There is a two-night minimum stay required for anyone seeking to use the cabins.

Also on the property, visitors can find the general store where they can purchase things like toothbrushes, candy bars, ice first aid tools, firewood, camping essentials, and condiments. The RV sites and tent camping locations have free complimentary access to the beach owned by the establishment. For visitors who are not staying the night on the premises in any capacity—or for those who are staying in the cabins—beach access is still available for eight dollars per person.

Due to how close it is to the beachfront, guests who either stay here or purchase a beach pass can explore Crescent Bay, find seashells in the sand, and do activities in the water, like body surfing or ocean kayaking. Pets are welcome to join their owners on the beach and at the tent and RV sites for an eight-dollar charge per day. Guests also have the opportunity to go exploring inland if they would like. Olympic National Park can be found south of the beach and offers a variety of hikes and trails that can take visitors to several different locations such as Sol Duc Falls and Lake Crescent. Guided tours are available for those who would like a tour guide with them while they travel throughout the park.

Culture

The manager of Crescent Beach and RV Park says that they are trying to create a family-oriented atmosphere. The RV park has several policies they ask guests to uphold to give others the chance to find a quiet and enjoyable environment. Crescent Beach and RV Park ask guests not to smoke and keep their pets out of the cabins, they enforce a quiet time that goes from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m, and they have a check-in time where visitors can check-in any time between 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for RV and tent sites and 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for cabins. Check-out for RV and tent locations are by 1:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. for cabins.

The beach covers close to a half-mile of private land, so only guests that have registered with the property are allowed access to the beach. There are a number of reviews on the property regarding the location, staff, and more. One reviewer writes, "Very peaceful place camp spots are kinda close together with nothing separating you still nice though there are restrooms with showers cost 25 cents a minute to shower the camp staff was very friendly and helpful took us to the camp spot and it's a very close walk to Beach."

A little way to the east, visitors can find the Camp Hayden Gun Placements, which are a historical location for the nearby cities. Even further to the east, guests can find the town of Port Angeles, which has a number of boat rides and ferries. The Black Ball Ferry Line can take guests to Victoria, which is in Vancouver Island, British Columbia. There are also many piers on the edge of the water that can provide good spots for taking pictures of the surrounding area.

History

Crescent Beach and RV Park first opened their doors to the public over 50 years ago. Currently, it is owned by a company called Secoda Inc. There are several historical landmarks that can be found within the area. One such place would be Camp Hayden Gun Placements, which was a military base that dates back to the Civil War period. The hill where the gun placements can be found was used as an outpost during the war, with the outpost being established before the town of Port Angeles itself. Another noteworthy mention would be Olympic National Park, which has a large number of trails for hiking and is based under Mt. Olympus' West Peak.
