Country Acres Campground offers a range of events and activities, such as live entertainment, DJ performances, magician shows, nature experiences with reptiles and other animals, kids' crafts, bingo, golf cart and bike parades, and wagon tram rides. These activities primarily take place on the weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The owner, Anthony, strives to create a memorable and inclusive experience for guests, with the intent to "help them feel like a part of the family." He tries to take the time to learn the names of their visitors and engage in friendly conversations in an effort to make them feel recognized and valued. Anthony also strives to preserve the natural landscape of the area by avoiding cutting down trees when adding new campsites or rentals. One former patron commented on the natural aspect of the grounds and the amenities in a review, saying, "The cabins were amazing, very clean, and just reminded you of that woods feeling. Great fire pit outside to cook on and close to the playground for the little ones as well."
Anthony, the owner of Country Acres Campground, has the goal of creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that aims to make guests feel like they are part of a close-knit community. "[We want to] treat them as a person rather than a customer and make them feel like we are their best friend," Anthony remarks. Regarding the "diversity of people" that Anthony says visits the property, he expresses, "Black, white, Latin, gay, lesbian, straight, old, young, handicapped... everyone's included." He also notes that the diversity of his guests is his favorite aspect of his job as the owner.
The campground implements a few policies that focus on maintaining a family-oriented atmosphere. Quiet hours are enforced from 11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., out of consideration for those who want a peaceful environment during the night. Smoking is permitted outdoors but not inside any of the buildings. For those who want to bring their pet, they are welcome to do so, provided that they keep their dog leashed at all times on the premises and clean up after them. It should also be noted that respectful behavior towards others, including pets, is highly encouraged.
The campground operates from early April to early October, with the busiest season most commonly occurring during June, July, and August—coinciding with the summer months when families are on vacation, notes Anthony. Concerning the most common demographic that the campground receives, Anthony observes that "middle income families" are the primary component of the demographic as a whole. The campground also receives a significant number of repeat visitors.
Country Acres Campground dates back to 1969 when it was established by Art and Laura Singleton. In its early years, Country Acres Campground began as a campground with a handful of tent sites. Over time, as the popularity of RVs grew, the campground expanded to accommodate RV enthusiasts. Anthony, the current owner, added more RV sites and equipped them with hookups and amenities to cater to the needs of modern campers. Recognizing the demand for alternative accommodation options, Anthony also introduced cabins to the campground.
As the campground expanded, so did the range of activities and features available to visitors. Throughout the years, Country Acres Campground has continuously evolved and improved its facilities and amenities. The fire pits, picnic tables, and patio sites with concrete pads were added with the intent to enhance the camping experience for guests. The modernization of the campground to meet the needs of contemporary campers and the upgrades to the electricity and facilities were made during Anthony's time as the campground host, which first began 19 years ago. Anthony has invested in landscaping and ensuring that new sites and rentals are integrated with the existing trees in an effort to preserve the natural environment.
