Situated near the city of Hesston, Kansas, near Highway 135, is the Cottonwood Grove RV Campground. The property encompasses a total of 17 acres, with the actual RV park taking up a fraction of the total acreage. There are 25 units available for reservation, with some being strictly reserved for overnight stays while the remaining spaces can accommodate more long-term guests. According to the owners, all of the sites have full hookups, with each having both 30- and 50-amp capabilities. Picnic tables are available for use throughout the park.
Those staying at the park also have access to indoor restrooms, showers, and coin-operated laundry facilities, which can all be found in the same building. Guests are also free to roam the grounds as they would like. The owners mention that they have a walking path that goes throughout the park where people can go for a walk by themselves, with other patrons, or with their pets. Additionally, there is a pond on the property with fish food that visitors can use to feed the fish. When describing the overall landscape of Cottonwood Grove RV Campground, the owners say that it can generally be considered "a virgin prairie with a natural creek that runs through it on its east side."

One of these is found in the town of Hutchinson, west of Hesston, namely the Cosmosphere Space Museum, where visitors can learn about the history of space travel. To the south of the RV park is Wichita, Kansas, where there are a number of shops, museums, and parks one could explore. The Sedgwick County Zoo is pointed out by the owners as being a frequent stop by many of their patrons. They finally note that the Arboretum in Hutchinson is a draw for some as the town is known for its Swedish heritage.
The owners of the Cottonwood Grove RV Campground want their guests to feel relaxed during their stay. According to the owners, “the relaxed, quiet, country setting” sets them apart from other parks in the area, and in reviews of the property, people have mentioned that they enjoyed the convenience of being close to Highway 81 while remaining in a more natural setting. One person said about their stay, “This was a great place to stop, with a professional and down-to-earth couple running it. The freeway is close but not loud or disturbing.” Other people also appreciated the hospitality of the owners, as well as the cleanliness of the business as a whole. Oftentimes patrons will use the campground as a base camp to see other attractions nearby, the owners note. As the park is open year-round, the busier season between Spring and Fall sees a considerable number of guests staying at the property in transit to another location on their road trip or staying there because of a local event.
In order to maintain a relaxing atmosphere for their guests, there are some notable policies that those staying at the campground are asked to follow. Among the most important regards those with pets; they must be non-aggressive and kept on a leash whenever they are outside of a patron’s RV, according to the owners. A quiet time begins each night at 10:00 PM and is in place until the following morning at 6:00 AM when some of the long-term residents of the park leave for work. Smoking is also not allowed in any of the buildings on the premises. While these policies are highlighted by the owners as being important, they also say that they have never had too many issues with guests refusing to keep them. The owners will go around and meet the guests should they wish to talk and live on the grounds, so should someone need something, they can be available to help as they live next door to the RV park. A self-check-in option is also available for those who may not want to interact with others.
The Cottonwood Grove RV Campground has been in business since it was established in 1996. Its original owners ran the park for about five years before they sold it to the current owners of the company. They wanted to run the park because they enjoyed the opportunities for customer service that some of their previous businesses had provided and thought that the park could provide more of those experiences. One of the owners says that their favorite part of the job is getting to meet the new people who come to stay at the campground as well as getting to work outside and be in nature. Since purchasing the park in 2001, the current owners have worked to keep the park up-to-date and maintained. One project they completed was building three sites that are for particularly large RVs, with another focused on updating the electrical system at each of the spaces. With regard to future plans, the owners say they want to continue to update and maintain the property as needed.
