Cherry Hill Campground

Cherry Hill Campground

Cherry Hill Campground is found in Darien Center, New York, which is located about an hour southeast of Niagara Falls. Patrons can reserve an RV site, dry camping space, cabin, or lean-to from May to October. There are 50 sites in total, with a majority of those being for RVs and tents. The cabins and lean-tos do not have any furnishings, so guests are expected to bring their own bedding, air mattresses, or sleeping bags. The business is pet-friendly and allows visitors to bring their animals with them to the campsites. Due to the location of the establishment in a more rural setting, people can participate in many outdoor recreational activities, namely fishing, hiking, and biking. A couple of noteworthy locations that are nearby are Six Flags Darien Lake and Darien Lakes State Park. Some of the further attractions that are about an hour away are Lake Ontario, Letchworth State Park, and Lake Erie.

About

Cherry Hill Campground is located in a fairly rural area, covering an expanse of approximately 63 acres. The business offers a total of 50 sites, including a mix of RV spaces, tent sites, lean-tos, and cabins. It should be noted that the RV and tent locations are not equipped with water, electrical, or sewer hookups. However, patrons do have access to water and dump stations across the campgrounds. The sites are a combination of gravel and grass, and the lean-tos and cabins are unfurnished with no running water or electricity. These accommodations are intended to be rustic, and guests are encouraged to bring their own air mattresses and bedding.

There are several amenities that are available for patrons to use during their stay at Cherry Hill Campground. People can participate in volleyball at the volleyball court, play a game of horseshoes, hike along the trails, or canoe in the pond. For utilities, one can find a laundromat with coin-operated washing and drying machines. The front office also doubles as a store and is stocked with various supplies, such as firewood, snacks, camping gear, apparel, and first aid essentials.

There are a variety of attractions within the vicinity that visitors may take an interest in. Located near the establishment is Six Flags Darien Lake—an amusement park with several roller coasters. A concert venue can also be found nearby, which is known for having concerts and live music events throughout the year. A few other places of note are about an hour away, including Letchworth State Park, Niagara Falls, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario.

Culture

One of the owners of Cherry Hill Campground, Gretchen, mentions that she would like to provide guests with a unique camping experience where they can enjoy staying out in the woods while still having access to modern amenities such as toilets, hot showers, and laundry facilities. The business aims to provide a blend of traditional camping and convenience so that patrons can have a positive experience. The company also offers a number of events throughout the year, namely yoga classes, the Tough Mudder Mud Run, wellness weekends that feature yoga and meditation, and a ground groups Music Festival, which hosts a variety of bands.

Cherry Hill Campground has several policies that visitors are required to abide by during their stay. Campers are reminded to maintain a five-mile-per-hour speed limit in an effort to keep others safe. The owners ask that patrons refrain from using the fire pits as garbage disposals and to get rid of waste properly. Pets are welcome to join their owners at the campsite, as there is currently no fee for pets, though the establishment requires that guests clean up after their animals and be careful not to leave them unsupervised. Quiet hours are enforced each night to help other occupants have a more restful night.

The business has received a number of reviews over the years. A few aspects of the property that are mentioned in some of these notes include the location, the amenities, and the events that are held. One person wrote, "They had live music the night we stayed, which was very enjoyable, and it was just acoustic, so it wasn't overly loud to the surrounding campers. They have many amenities like nice bathrooms, showers, dishwashing stations, and even washers and dryers that are coin-operated. We also went to the Six Flags, and it's about a three-minute drive from the campground, which is super convenient."

The business is open from the beginning of May to the end of October, with July and August being the busiest months due to the summer vacation season and warmer weather. The typical demographic of guests that spend time at Cherry Hill Campground is families and couples, with the concert events often attracting a younger crowd.

History

Cherry Hill Campground was purchased in 2006 by the current owners, Gretchen, and her partner. Since they acquired the property, the owners have made a variety of changes and investments in an effort to maintain their establishment. Gretchen mentions that she would like to use the campground to create a space that caters more specifically to traditional campers. She and the other owner have made a variety of additions to the grounds. They developed trails where guests can hike, and in the fall, they host an event called the Tough Mudder Mud Run. While the campground has ample acreage for expansion—occupying about 25 of the 63 acres of land—any future growth would require additional restroom facilities to comply with New York state health laws. Gretchen explains that she is considering the possibility of adding more sites in the future, but this would depend on the necessary requirements and if the business can meet them.

Gretchen remarks that one of her favorite aspects of running Cherry Hill Campground is seeing families enjoy the natural surroundings and engaging in activities that the campground offers. She also states that she values the simplicity of camping and giving families a chance to disconnect from digital distractions.
