The Carmel by the River RV Park is located in Monterrey County, California, and has 35 sites. There are six different types of sites, all with full hookups of water, sewage, power, and cable TV. Each of the sites also includes a grill and a picnic table. The different types of sites include twelve Standard sites, eleven Wide Standards, three Premium, one Deluxe, four Mega, and one Primo. The owner says that the most popular site is the Primo space, due to the added amenities. The Primo Site includes a grill and picnic table, in addition to a backyard, private gazebo, game area, and a paved patio area. Another popular unit is a wide standard site by the name of Lovers Point. Lovers Point overlooks an area with various types of plants and native foliage. The different types of sites were originally created to accommodate different sizes and types of RVs.
The grounds of the RV park are home to multiple activities and areas that guests can participate in and visit. There is a business lounge that can be used by any visitor to the property. The lounge has Wi-Fi connections, a full kitchen, an area that can be used for online video meetings, and a coffee or tea bar. The lounge is available for reservations or for those staying at the park to use whenever it is open. A dog park can also be found at the park and is the only area where animals are allowed to be off-leash. Additionally, on the grounds of the property, there is a general store that sells RV supplies and ice cream. In the building that houses the store, there is also a 'lending library' with books and DVDs that guests can borrow while staying at the park. On the property, there are provided bathrooms and showers. There is not a laundry facility on-site, but there are laundromats within two miles of the grounds. A service that is available at the Carmel By the River RV Park is an on-site shuttle service that is operational from 9 AM to 9 PM that can drive patrons into town without them having to move their vehicles. There is a fee for the shuttle service which varies depending on the destination.
For those who stay at the premises, the owners have certain policies in the hopes of ensuring a peaceful experience for all who stay at the park. While there is not a restriction on bringing pets to the park, there is a limit of three dogs per site. Any type of dog is welcome to stay, but the owners ask that there only be up to three in each space. Jeff, one of the owners said that "all well-behaved animals are welcome." Animals are to be kept on their leash unless they are in the dog park area of the grounds. Additionally, there is no smoking allowed inside any of the public areas at the park, and there is an enforced quiet time of 10 PM every night.
While staying at the Carmel by the River RV Park, the owners hope that guests can feel relaxed and peaceful. They strive to provide that environment in part by their policies, as well as allowing those who stay at the property to enjoy time to themselves while staying on the grounds. Jeff, one of the owners, said "we are a very quiet park." He hopes that those who stay at the RV park can have fun as a family and enjoy being in nature while at the park. Jeff says that one of the things the park is known for is the "high level of service we provide." The staff at the park try to make themselves available when guests have questions or need help.
Previous visitors who have stayed at the park commented on the peace and quiet that they experienced during their stay. They also mention the landscaping on the grounds. One patron said, "The location is nice; it's quiet and peaceful, tucked away on a back road in Carmel Valley. The road is narrow in parts, but we had no trouble driving our truck or trailer on it. We enjoyed the walk down the road to say hello to the pigs. They live in a pen about 3/4 mile down the road" The owners strive to help guests have a good experience while staying at the park, and one way they try to provide that is through the landscaping. Jeff said, "we take a great deal of pride in our landscaping."
Jeff describes those who stay at the park as an "eclectic group," meaning that there is a "very dynamic mix" of people who visit the park. According to Jeff, the main demographic of guests is generally more mature, but there is still a "fair share of families" who stay as well. The staff of the Carmel by the River RV Park strive to create an atmosphere on the grounds so that any age group of patrons can have an enjoyable stay at the property.
The property is located in Monterey County, California. The premises is between Monterey and Carmel California and, as such, there is access to a variety of activities for guests of varying ages. In the opposite direction of Monterey is the Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park which is home to a variety of outdoor activities. The area around the RV park contains multiple wineries as well as the Monterey Aquarium and Laguna Seca Raceway. Some restaurants in the area that Jeff would recommend include Baja Cantina, Ioli's Pizzeria, and the Treehouse Cafe.
The Carmel By the River RV Park has been in business as a campground for the past 47 years. Since its founding in 1975, the park has been run by the same family. Before the land was turned into an RV park, the area was undeveloped and had a few small fishing ponds off the river. Over the past 47 years, the business has developed into what it is today. When it was originally created, the land was used as tent sites. One of the owners, Jeff, said " as camping has evolved, so has the park," meaning that as more people who were looking to camp wanted RV spaces, the park updated and created them. Some sites have been recently added or updated including the Primo Site. In the past six months, the Primo Site has become a more private option for those looking to stay at the property.
