Camper's Paradise RV Park is located in Sunset, Texas; a city found northwest of Fort Worth and Dallas. The park offers 94 RV sites that can be reserved at any time of the year. The business is also capable of hosting people at a daily, weekly, or monthly price. The establishment's proximity to Lake Amon G. Carter allows guests to participate in multiple recreational water activities. Fishing is one of the most popular activities to do at the lake, though things like swimming, boating, and paddling are also available. Camper's Paradise RV Park is pet-friendly and allows children of all ages. Trailers must be 12 years old or newer in order to stay at the RV park. One principal goal of the property is to create a safe atmosphere. A strategy the owners of the property have used to achieve this goal is to have two managers live on site.
A total of 94 RV sites that are available at Camper's Paradise RV Park can be reserved for daily, weekly, or monthly stays. Each space has a gravel pad and comes with full hookups, including water, sewage, and electricity of 30 and 50 AMPs. Wi-Fi is available free of charge to those staying at the park, but guests can choose to purchase an upgraded Wi-Fi that lets them have access to streaming services as well. Some of the RV sites have grills or picnic tables, while others are open segments of grass—some of which have trees that can provide shade. The establishment has a variety of pull-through and back-in spaces available, though many of the pull-throughs are saved for patrons who are only staying for one night. According to the general manager, the business has about 20 overnight areas, all of which are pull-throughs, but they can move visitors to one of the open monthly sites if the overnight units are occupied.
The general manager explains that the establishment is in a more rural location, so there is not much in the immediate vicinity. She mentions, "We are about three miles from the closest town and about 45 minutes from the closest city." Lake Amon G. Carter can be found to the west of the business and provides outdoor recreational activities like fishing, walking trails, and more. There are several restaurants in the area that she likes to recommend to people who plan on visiting some of the towns. Decatur, a town about 20 minutes away from Campers Paradise RV Park, is home to Catfish O'Harlies, which is a restaurant that serves seafood dishes. Next to Catfish O'Harlies is Villa Grande Ranch, which is a "Tex-Mex smokehouse" that the general manager often recommends. Between the Decatur and Camper's Paradise RV Park, one can find Ritzy B's Smokehouse & Grill, which serves a variety of barbequed goods. Finally, the general manager suggests Spicy Mexico, which is a Mexican restaurant in Bowie, a town located a few miles north of Sunset.
The general manager of Camper's Paradise RV Park would like her guests to feel safe while they are staying at the business. To help create a safer environment, she instructs her employees to watch the area throughout the day. Background checks are done for people who plan on staying at the property for an extended period of time.
Another way that Camper's Paradise RV Park attempts to provide a safer environment is the implementation of several policies. Each RV that is brought to the park must be 12 years old or newer. Children of all ages are allowed at the park, and the business is also pet-friendly. They try to avoid allowing aggressive dogs to stay on the premises for the safety of other guests and pets. Quiet time begins at 10:00 PM and goes on until 8:00 AM.
There have been many guests that have stayed at the RV Park over the years, and many of them have complimented the grounds' cleanliness, along with their experiences with the staff. Someone who stayed at Camper's Paradise RV Park said this of their experience: "We called later in the day, expecting they would be full, but were graciously welcomed during our inquiry. The site he led us to accommodated our big rig plus towed vehicle. The park is well maintained and seems dedicated to excellent service." The general manager mentions that she interacts with her guests frequently.
The business is open year-round to visitors. Many outdoorsmen come for recreational activities such as fishing or hiking. The general manager explains that there is not a typical demographic of guests, as they usually receive visitors in the area for various reasons. Many people who come to Sunset are traveling through and are on their way to another place, often coming from California, Florida, New Mexico, and other states.
Camper's Paradise RV Park was first opened in 1973. There have been many different owners over the years that had run the RV park, with the most recent change of ownership occurring in 2022 when the current owners purchased the business.
The owners had spent the last two years working on the grounds and updating the amenities that were provided before they arrived, as well as adding new features for guests to use. The laundry room was remodeled with the addition of all new machines under their jurisdiction, and there has been a large amount of landscaping that has been done. During this time, they also renovated the store to be a commercial RV park vendor. In the future, they would also like to add a few more amenities, in addition to continuing to maintain and update the business as needed. One significant change they would like to make is the addition of a dog park and a dog wash.
The general manager explains that her favorite part of helping run Camper's Paradise RV Park is meeting the people who stay overnight. In her own words, "I like to learn about where they came from and where they are going."
