Calm Waters Resort is open from March to December and typically receives the most visitors during the summer when school is out for the season. The property features several common areas where guests can lounge and socialize, such as the swimming pool area and covered pavilion. Some of the resort's amenities contain boat slips, complimentary use of water recreation equipment, a swim deck, a laundry room, free Wi-Fi, and a playground area, to name a few.

About

Calm Waters Resort is situated in southern Missouri on approximately five acres of land. The property offers four condos and twelve individual units, totaling to 16 rentals. Kitchenettes are included in six of the units, though a full kitchen is provided in every rental. Each cabin and condo has a view of the lake. The A-Frame Cabins With Loft are typically the more popular rentals as the design of the cabin is particularly unique from the other units. The resort features several common areas for guests, some of which include the covered pavilion, campfire area, swimming pool, and dock with a swim deck. Located next to the campfire and covered pavilion area is the swimming pool. Depending on the weather, the pool is open to patrons from Memorial Day until October.

Complimentary use of kayaks, paddleboards, canoes, rowboats, and other water recreation equipment is accessible for guests with no extra charge. Additionally, eight boat slips are available for rent at Calm Waters Resort, giving occupants the opportunity to bring their own boat to store during their stay. The playground, swimming pool, and firepits are offered to patrons who are hoping to participate in on-site activities without having to leave the property.

About 1.8 miles from Calm Waters Resort is Silver Door City, one of the largest amusement parks in the Midwest. Additionally, cliff jumping is a nearby activity that visitors and locals can participate in. Branson, the city in which the property is located, is a well-known area throughout the Midwest, as stated by the owner, that typically draws in visitors from Chicago, Dallas, Little Rock, or St. Louis, to name a few. The owner also mentions that the surrounding area offers several attractions such as the Titanic Museum and the Hollywood Wax Museum, and she would consider it to be "the country version of Vegas." The Tanger Outlets is a cluster of stores that can be found about a ten-minute drive from Calm Waters Resort. For visitors who plan on shopping, the Tanger Outlets include stores such as Under Armor, Michael Kors, and other similar shops. Some of the restaurants nearby the property recommended by the owners are Altenhof Inn Restaurant & Pizzeria, Lambert's CafĂ©, and Little Hacienda.

Culture

The majority of visitors come to the area to participate in water recreation at Table Rock Lake. Calm Waters Resort is a place where the cabins are situated right on the lake as they are spaced approximately 200 feet from the water. Chris and Belinda hope for their guests to be respectful of their neighboring occupants during their stay. Belinda remarks that typically the summer season is busier than other periods of the year. As school starts, the majority of demographics at Calm Waters Resort typically consists of fishermen. The overall environment during the summer is relatively lively in contrast to the spring and fall when the atmosphere becomes more laid back and quieter.

The general operation time for Calm Waters Resort is from March to December depending on weather conditions. The majority of visitors are families, couples, and fishermen, though Chris and Belinda receive a variety of people. Several fishing tournaments are held in the area, drawing in those who hope to engage in the activity. Some of the fish in the area that fishermen strive to catch include bass and crappie.

Calm Waters Resort does not enforce a quiet hour as they generally have not had a noise issue in the past with their occupants. With an extra fee, pets are allowed to stay at the resort. Smoking is prohibited indoors but acceptable outdoors. Chris and Belinda mention that their number one rule on the property is for visitors to respect their neighbors.

The property's motto is "Enjoy Lake Life." One of Chris and Belinda's goals for the property is to provide guests with a place where they can find fun and relaxation. The owners frequently try to come up with new ideas like buying more kayaks and such in an attempt to provide their guests with an experience they can enjoy. One previous guest remarked, "Kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards are available for guests free of charge which was a fun addition to the experience. The cabin was very nice and the staff was always available if needed."

History

Calm Waters Resort has been owned by Chris and Belinda since 2015, though it was originally built in 1970. When the owners lived in Arizona, they owned a sign shop that was becoming tiresome. As they took an interest in owning a campground or fishing resort rather than the sign shop, they decided to fly to Seattle, Washington, and search for a potential property they could own. After failing to find a property in Seattle they traveled to other parts of the country. Eventually, they settled in Missouri, where they discovered Calm Waters Resort to be a suitable match for them both.

Some additions they've made to the resort since first acquiring the property have been the renovations to the cabins. The cabins that had already existed were additionally renovated and three more new cabins were added as well as the covered pavilion area. The owners try to put forth the effort to improve Calm Waters Resort as much as possible. Every winter, Calm Waters Resort is closed down for further renovations. In the future, the owners want to redo the swimming pool area.

One of Chris and Belinda's favorite things about running the property is meeting new people. Belinda mentions that they've made friends with several repeat guests and hope to make more in the future.
