Bouse RV Park

Bouse RV Park

The Bouse RV Park was established in the 1980s and is located in Bouse, Arizona. The establishment is nearby the Arizona Peace Trail, which has many trailheads that guests can hike or ride their ATVs or side-by-sides. The RV park has 70 sites which include 30 and 50-amp hookups, as well as other hookups of sewage and water. 31 of the sites on the grounds are pull-through spots, meaning the RVs can pull through the site to park instead of needing to back into the parking space. Eight of the 70 sites are for "turnover" guests or guests that plan to stay a week or less at the establishment. The majority of those eight sights are pull-through. The RV park is open from October 15 through April 15, with its busiest season generally being in January and February.

About

Located in Bouse, Arizona, on the Arizona Peace Trail, the Bouse RV Park has 70 sites available to guests from October 15 through April 15. Each site has full hookups with both 30 and 50 amp capabilities. 31 of the sites are pull-through spaces, with the other 39 being back-in. The majority of the spaces at the RV park are for patrons staying multiple months, such as snowbirds; however, there are eight sites kept specifically for short-term stays of a week or less. The eight sites are mostly pull-through spaces with the intent of helping patrons who will only be staying for a short time to be able to park and leave with ease. The establishment offers daily, weekly, monthly, and annual rates, with the ability for guests who rent annually to leave their rigs in their sites during the off-season.

On the grounds of the RV park, there is a clubhouse that visitors staying at the park can use at any time. Inside the clubhouse is a 72-inch television that the owners sometimes use to host watch parties for various sporting events or other televised events. There is also a firepit in front of the clubhouse. Every Saturday night, weather permitting, the owners light a fire that all who are staying on the property can come and enjoy. Occasionally the staff will bring hot dogs or other items that patrons can cook in the fire and enjoy. Other amenities on the grounds include showers, laundry, and a pool table. On-site is also a RO (or ‘reverse osmosis’) station that supplies drinking water to the city of Bouse. In the area, many people choose to drink purchased RO water rather than tap, and the city of Bouse offers vouchers for residents to come and fill up their water at the establishment. The staff also allows guests to the property to fill up their RV tanks with RO drinking water at the station for 20 cents a gallon.

Culture

The owners of the Bouse RV Park hope that those who stay at the property are able to feel at home and welcomed on the grounds. Between the various sites, there are multiple shrubs, trees, and other desert plants. Those staying at the property often comment on the physical appearance of the park, frequently describing it as "charming." One patron said, "Nice big pull-through spaces. Love the vegetation between the spaces! The clubhouse, laundry, and showers are very accessible and super clean. I really enjoyed the musicians at the campfire." Others comment on the hospitality of the owners and the manager, as well as the proximity of the park to activities and businesses within the city of Bouse. One guest said, "Within walking distance to the post office and the market. Sites have nice trees and flowering shrubs between neighbors for added privacy. The place has friendly owners that were very accommodating."

The business hosts multiple activities throughout the season in the hopes of helping guests get to know each other and enjoy their stay. Once a month, from November through March, there is a wine and painting class hosted in the clubhouse. The class is an additional $30, and each month the instructor will help patrons with different types of paintings. Additionally, every Monday evening is a bingo night hosted by the owners and manager of the establishment. There is also a 72-inch flat-screen television in the clubhouse on the premises that guests to the property can use. Throughout the year, those staying at the park can gather together in the clubhouse for various televised events, including NFL games, March Madness basketball, and the State of the Union addresses. On Fat Tuesday, the business also hosts a "Cajun Shrimp Boil" for all those staying at the park. The owners try to host an event every week, saying that those who stay at the establishment "are a really big family."

The owners of the Bouse RV Park strive to get to know those who come to visit the park. "We know everyone in the park, and everyone in the park knows us," Robyn, one of the owners, said. They strive to emphasize customer service and help visitors with their needs during their stays. To try and help patrons feel comfortable and at home while visiting, pets are welcome to stay with their owners. There is a dog park on the grounds as well, where dogs can be off-leash. One policy that Robyn and Mike ask guests to follow when checking in to the park is communication with the staff on their arrival time. The office is open until 6 pm each evening, and while guests can get to the park later than this time, Robyn and Mike ask that patrons call ahead and let them know before 6 pm of their approximate arrival time.

The RV park is located in the city of Bouse, Arizona, and is within walking distance of restaurants and local attractions. Some restaurants that Robyn recommends guests visit include Ocotillo Restaurant and Bar, The Dutchman, and the Somewhere Bar. Most visitors who come to stay at the park come to experience the Arizona Peace Trail, which is an off-roading trail in the Mojave Desert. There are entrance points to the trail within walking distance of the Bouse RV Park. Some local places that can be visited include the Bouse Library, the Bouse Booster Club, and Camp Bouse, which was the area that General Patton used to train troops during World War II.

History

The Bouse RV Park is the oldest RV park in the city of Bouse, according to the owners. The current owners, Mike and Robyn Vanosdall, purchased the property in 1991. They had recently retired and were traveling to have the experience of being a "snowbird," which is someone who lives temporarily in warmer climates during the wintertime due to how cold their home areas can be. They visited the Bouse RV Park and decided that they enjoyed the area and the park so much that they purchased the business. They say that when they began operating the establishment, they started "updating the infrastructure" and have made updates as necessary to maintain the park while retaining the original vegetation of the park such as the bushes between each RV space or the ocotillo trees. According to Robyn, their favorite part of what they do is the people they meet. She says, "We meet people from all walks of life, from all over the world."

The region surrounding the RV park has historical significance for the area. General Patton, a general during the second world war, trained troops in the desert around the city of Bouse. He operated a training base in the area and flew troops out from the area to different parts of Europe to help with the war effort. Today, the community has an active Veterans of Foreign Wars population, and many veterans live in the area.
