The Creekside RV Park, located in Bishop, California, features 49 sites that guests can reserve from the end of April through October. 39 of the sites available are full hookup sites with water, electricity, and sewer; 6 of the sites are partial hookups with water and electric capabilities; and 4 are tent sites. Regardless of the hookups available, each space includes a picnic table and a fire pit. Additionally, due to the land being private property, fire restrictions are not imposed as strictly. If guests are looking to stay at the RV park but do not have a camper, there are seven rental campers available: five stationary and two that can be placed at any site. The grounds of the establishment also have a general store, a horseshoe area, and access to South Fork Bishop Creek. Those staying at the property can picnic, swim, and fish on the creek.
At the Creekside RV Park, there are 39 full hookup sites, 5 "partial hookup" sites, and 4 tent sites available to reserve from the end of April through October. Additionally, there are seven campers that patrons can rent if they are looking to stay at the campground but do not have an RV. The "partial hookup" sites include water, and electric hookups, and gray water hooked up, but they need to hold their black water. The tent sites are located along the South Fork Bishop Creek and in a nearby but relatively secluded area from the RV sites, which runs through the property. Regardless of the type of site reserved by patrons, each space has a picnic table and a fire pit that they can use as they wish. Sierra additionally notes that because the RV park is on private property, those staying at the park are "not restricted" by local fire policies. There is also wifi at the campground, but it is only available at the general store.
At the general store, there are a variety of items available for guests to purchase if desired. Sierra says that they "carry just about everything" at the store, as the property is located in a more rural area. Some items that can be purchased at the store include tackle, bait, RV supplies, tent camping supplies, sundries, beer, wine, pantry items, and memorabilia items such as shirts and hats. Also located on the grounds of the property is Ron's Fishing Pond, which is stocked with fish. Sierra notes that patrons can catch two fish per day in the pond and prepare them at their individual campsites. Additionally, a horseshoe area can be found near the general store, and Sierra notes that there are a variety of "kid's toys," such as soccer balls, footballs, and nets, that can be borrowed from the business and used on the campground.
While staying at Creekside RV Park, Sierra and Nate, the owners of the business, hope that guests can feel welcomed and relaxed. The slogan of the park is "your vacation home in the eastern Sierras," and the couple hopes that those staying with them can feel "at home" on the premises, according to Sierra. She says that she and Nate aim to "greet everyone with a smile," and they have staff that can help groups to their sites, which they jokingly call "marriage savers."
According to Sierra, many of the patrons of the Creekside RV Park are staying at the property for fishing and family time. In order to maintain the park's atmosphere, there are multiple policies in place during a stay. The establishment is dog-friendly, but pets must be kept on a leash. Additionally, there is no biking allowed in the park, and those hoping to use the firepits must use firewood and not damage any of the trees growing on the property. Lastly, quiet time is from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. each day.
Those who have stayed previously at the Creekside RV Park often comment on the fishing both at the property and in the area, as well as the quietness and cleanliness of the park. One former patron of the establishment said, "The park is close enough to town but close enough to fishing some beautiful lakes too. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable of fishing and surrounding areas. The pond and the surroundings are quiet and beautiful, and it is a very relaxing environment."
In the surrounding areas, there are a variety of outdoor activities as well as eateries that the owners recommend to those staying at the property. South Lake and Sabrina Lake are relatively high-elevation lakes, with opportunities for fishing, swimming, and boat rentals available. They are also access points into desolation wilderness and the John Muir Trail. North Lake, in the adjacent canyon, is also another place to cast a line, featuring a grove of aspens in the fall months. Sabrina Lake and North Lake are located near the property, and each offers opportunities for fishing and playing in the water. There are also pac mule tours that go through the area that patrons may enjoy. Sierra notes that Parcher Resort has "wonderful homemade pies," Bishops Creek Lodge has a "cool, rustic" bar and grill, and Cardinal Village serves breakfast and lunch, as well as all-you-can-eat pizza on Friday and Saturday nights.
According to one of the owners, Sierra Mors, the land that is now known as the Creekside RV Park was initially inhabited by the Paiute Native American tribe. The tribe would come to the area to fish on the creek, and "a lot of people called it God's Country," Sierra remarks. In the early 1800s, a man named Habeggar built a homestead on the creek, which was powered by a waterwheel. Today, Sierra notes that the logo of the business includes a waterwheel as an homage to the original piece of machinery constructed on the grounds. One of the original cabins built by Habeggar is still found at the RV Park. In 1981, Ron and Donna Scira purchased the land and developed the Creekside RV Park. For 43 years, they and their family ran the park before selling the business to Sierra & Nate Mors, the current owners. Sierra notes that they hope to continue in the previous owner's footsteps by operating the campground as a family.
Sierra & Nate Mors, along with their dog Nelson, purchased the RV park in 2022 because they "have always loved camping and wanted to tailor [their] lives to something where [they] would have winters off." She also notes that in the past year, they have been grateful for the continual support and transition of business from Ron and Donna's son Nick. Throughout their first year at the property, Sierra and Nate have worked on leveling each of the sites, landscaping the property, and bringing a fresh perspective to the store and business. The couple is "looking forward to what the future has," according to Sierra. She said as well that they have especially enjoyed getting to know the campers who come to the park and that there is a "large following" that has been coming to the area for 40 to 50 years that they have enjoyed getting to know.
