Bell RV Village

Bell RV Village

Bell RV Village is an RV park located in northern Oklahoma, in between Bartlesville and Dewey. It is best described as an express RV park, instead of a destination campground. They pride themselves on simple, yet professional grounds and service.

About

Bell RV Village sits in the middle of the towns Dewey and Bartlesville in northeastern Oklahoma. The surrounding landscape is primarily farmlands, meaning that most people who visit the campground are not specifically in the area for sight-seeing. Bell RV Village is the newest RV park/campground in the area, having opened just over three years ago, in 2017. The campground sits just off of Highway 75, though the majority of the sites are far enough away from it that excessive noise isn't an issue. The property currently has 30 sites, which range in their size and whether or not they are pull-through or back-in. Each of the sites comes equipped with full hookups, including water, electric, and sewage. Other camp-wide amenities include WiFi, cable TV, two sewer outlets, and a dump and flush station (which is only free to use if the person is a guest of Bell RV Village). All of these features and hookups are included in the reservation's flat rate, even when referring to more extended stays of weeks or months. No extra fees are applied. The owner of Bell RV Village is Lane Bell. He opened the park in part because he was already an owner of an RV dealership and understood the market. Due to this fact, there are a few aspects of the campground that visitors might not find in other RV parks. One such example is that any visitor may make a free service call for their RV while on the property. The campground also offers "demo" RV stays when new models or versions of RVs are released. People can view them—and even stay in them for a day or two—before making any purchasing decisions. In addition to all previously-mentioned elements of Bell RV Village, they also have a playground, a sizable dog park (referred to as the "Bark Park"), a laundromat, and a clubhouse within the office of the campground. Bell RV Village is open year-round, though Lane has noted that the spring and summer months are when they are typically more occupied. Currently, the campground averages an occupancy rate of anywhere between 85-90%. Owing to this, Bell RV Village has plans to expand in coming years from a total of 30 sites to a total of 90. There is a store on-site which sells strictly supplies that would be necessary for RV repair and maintenance.

Culture

Because Bartlesville is not usually considered a particularly tourist-heavy location, Bell RV Village is often not viewed as a destination campground. The majority of the visitors of Bell RV Village are passing through for the night and need a comfortable place to stay. Lane Bell—the owner of Bell RV Village—admits that there isn't much to do in the area, nor are the sights of the landscape unique compared to the rest of the central United States. What he prides himself on, however, is providing a clean and professional experience to those who are staying at his campground. "We try to give off a vibe of being higher-quality than other campgrounds." They offer full hookups and services at all of their sites, not just to a select few. They also attempt to keep "junky-looking" trailers out of the campground. If a guest is hoping to use an RV that is older than ten years, they must have it approved by Lane. He does this to promote safety and emulate a high-quality RV park as much as possible. In addition to the visitors that are merely passing through, Bell RV Village hosts a sizable demographic of people who are on some type of work contract. The area is known for its oil supply, so many people will stay up to a year in the campground as a cheaper, convenient way of commuting to their job. Guests have spoken well of the property, commenting on quality staff members and the cleanliness of the campground. One such guest said, "Very nice site. Very new with concrete pads, picnic tables, nice office area with a small supply store and a small laundromat. Oh, and it's just down from Bell Camper Sales where you can get your RV worked on if necessary." As a town, Bartlesville is mostly "on the map" because it is the birthplace of international oil company Phillips 66. The enterprise began in 1917 under the direction of L.E. Phillips and Frank Phillips. A historic mansion they owned is open to the public for tours.

History

Bell RV Village was founded in 2017 by Lane Bell. Lane was already in the RV industry, and he owns Bell Camper Sales, which is also located in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Because he had already accrued a sizable knowledge of the RV industry and market, he decided that building his own RV park could be a potentially profitable venture. "It fits really well with having an RV dealership," he says. The RV park currently has 30 sites in operation, though Lane has made plans to expand Bell RV Village to a total of 90 sites. He is in the process of buying the land necessary for the expansion, and construction is expected to begin in late 2020.
