Culture

The owner, Daedre Orme, compares her cabins to a boutique hotel. Daedre focuses on being consistent and providing quality service to her guests. The Ashton Log Cabins are unique because the timbers were cut and placed by hand. Guests can enjoy family time while on the property while also enjoying separation.

The owners see a lot of five-star reviews. Guests frequently mention the cleanliness of the property and how comfortable the sleeping accommodations are. Guests have also said how they appreciate the owners' communication, something that the owner tries to focus on. Daedre Orme says she wants her guests to know that they can contact her if they need anything. Many of the guests are returning guests who are bringing back friends to stay another time.

One unique event that occurs in the area each year is the Mesa Falls Marathon—a qualifier marathon for the Boston Marathon. There are five different races that dogs can compete in and that guests can watch.

History

The cabins at the Ashton Log Cabins have been around for a relatively long time and are 100 years, having been built in 1921. However, the current owners of the property, Daedre, and her husband, only recently purchased it in 2018. When they bought the property, they saw it as an opportunity to turn the property into something better than it was, especially with how old and outdated the property had become after nearly a century of being in business as a lodging place.

The Ashton Log Cabins property got its namesake from the city of Ashton, Idaho, where it resides. Daedre and her husband were the ones who adopted this name after they acquired the business. Since doing so, they have made many efforts to upgrade and renovate the historic cabins. They did this in an effort to ensure that their guests have the best stay possible and so that they can provide more modern amenities and features.
