Ana Reservoir RV Park

Ana Reservoir RV Park

Ana Reservoir RV Park is a campground that is located on the southern side of Summer Lake, Oregon. The property has a total of 24 units that can be reserved, ranging from tent spots and RV sites with full hookups and partial hookups. Several of the units can be rented out for extended periods of time at a weekly or monthly rate. The business is open year-round, with its busiest times being during the spring and fall. Summer Lake is a town that is located east of Ana Reservoir County Park and Ana Reservoir. The land surrounding the RV park is mostly flat, with a considerable amount of sagebrush and a few trees. There is only one restaurant in Summer Lake and several others in neighboring towns like Paisley, Silver Lake, and Christmas Valley.

About

Ana Reservoir RV Park has a total of 24 RV sites that guests can choose from, depending on their needs for their stay. Sixteen of the sites come with water, electricity, and sewage hookups, while the other eight only come with water and electricity. All the units have full hookups of either 20 or 30 amps, however, there are eight sites that have 50 amp hookups. Every site allows RVs to pull through. There are also a number of tent spaces that guests can reserve if they do not have a mobile home. Alongside the RV and tent spaces, the main building, fish cleaning shed, playground, fire pits, and public bathrooms and showers can be found. The fish cleaning shed allows guests to clean the fish they caught at the lake. The main office has an ice machine where guests can purchase ice if they need it, as well as a coin-operated laundry machine, so they can clean their clothes while they are staying at the RV park. There are two bathrooms, one for men and one for women, each with two stalls and two showers.

At Ana Reservoir, visitors can launch their boats into the water and do activities such as water skiing. One of the most popular activities to do at the lake is fishing for various types of bass and trout. Located within walking distance of the RV park, guests can choose to walk or drive down to the water. Many fields surround both the property and the reservoir, allowing guests the chance to see horses, sheep, migrating birds, and other animals during their stay. At the Summer Lake State Wildlife Area, birds can often be seen at different times of the year migrating from one place to another, stopping at the refuge to rest before continuing on.

The owner enjoys recommending restaurants to those who are looking for a place to get a meal. In the nearby towns, guests can find The Lodge at Summer Lake, the only restaurant in Summer Lake. In the city of Paisley, visitors can go to The Pioneer Saloon. The Pioneer Saloon is an older establishment that serves pizza and a variety of other dishes. One of the manager's favorite places to get food is a place called The Cowboy Dinner Tree. According to the manager, there are two main-dish options, chicken and steak. When guests order the chicken, they get an entire chicken dinner, and when they order a steak, they get a very large, prime-cut steak. The Cowboy Dinner Tree can often get booked up completely, so it is recommended that patrons make reservations ahead of time.

Culture

The goals that the owner tries to achieve are to keep the place running as well as possible, to keep improving and upgrading as much as she can, and to make it a place that is enjoyable for everyone that is staying there. She wants her guests to feel welcome, enjoy the peace and quiet of the surrounding area, and leave with a positive experience. The owner lives close to the property, making her more accessible if she is needed. The check-in process is an implemented self-check-in process that does not require visitors to have an employee there in order to set up their tent or RV. Ana Reservoir RV Park is open year-round and finds itself at the busiest times in May, usually around Memorial Day, as well as October. During the summer, many people that come to the property are families with children on vacation, while during the spring and fall, there are more outdoorsmen that are in the area for deer or duck hunting, bird watching at the nearby refuge, and fishing at Ana Reservoir.
While the business doesn't often hold events of their own, there have been times when people will rent out most or all of the property for large get-togethers like family reunions. Ana Reservoir RV Park is also located in what is called "dark sky country," where it is easier to see stars in the sky at night due to the lower levels of light pollution. Because of this, the property will sometimes hold star parties for those that want to go stargazing at night. The campgrounds are pet-friendly, only asking that guests keep their pets on a leash. Quiet time begins at 10:00 pm to allow other guests the chance to have a restful night.

Due to the location of the edifice, outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking, and birdwatching tend to be more popular. Ana Reservoir, which is less than a mile south of the property, carries trout and bass, allowing people to fish off the edge of the water or in a boat. According to the manager, the reservoir holds the record for the largest hybrid bass caught in the state of Oregon. Fremont National Forest can be found south of both the reservoir and the property, giving people more places for hiking, horseback riding, and other outdoor activities.

Many people that have stayed at Ana Reservoir RV Park will often mention the quality of cleanliness and the scenery of the area. One person who stayed at the RV park writes, "The bathrooms were clean and taken care of, and the campground was very well kept. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The scenery is beautiful, and overall it is a great place to stay." Another aspect of the property that is brought up in reviews is the close proximity to other noteworthy locations in the area. Another previous visitor's review said, "Low key, nice campers, and very clean. Next to everything we like to do. Right up the road to the refuge, Ana Reservoir (great trout fishing all year long), Dale's Market, and the Lodge at Summer Lake that has amazing food."

History

Ana Reservoir is a man-made lake that was built by horses and wagons. It took them some time to build the dam, but it helped with irrigation and other water-related issues that locals were having at the time of its construction. Now it is a place where people can bring their boats, RVs, tents, and other camping equipment and have an enjoyable time. The Ana Reservoir RV Park is named after this lake.

The RV park was initially built in the late 90s and has gone through several owners since then. The current owner has maintained the goals of the former owners and continues to try to find ways of improving the property. While the previous owners, Jay and Connie, are no longer managing the property, they still live on it and interact with those who come to stay at Ana Reservoir RV Park.

The current owners, Marie Leehmann and her son Kevin, have lived in the area their whole lives. Both Marie and Kevin are currently ranchers, but have invested in something that they could do even in retirement. Marie began looking for properties and decided to buy this one when it went up for sale. She plans on maintaining the Ana Reservoir RV Park for a while longer and has future plans to improve and upgrade the property. One thing that was added since she has taken ownership of the edifice is the ice machine, giving guests the opportunity to purchase and restock on ice if they need it. The manager of the property enjoys seeing and meeting people that come to the area. Many of those who come to the property are older and retired people, a large portion of them being returning patrons that have been to the area in years past. She and the owners, both the current and previous owners, interact with the guests often and hope that they are enjoying their time there.
