Agua Vista RV Park is located in Sierra County, New Mexico, in the southern part of the state. A total of 30 RV sites are available for reservation. As the property is situated near Elephant Butte Lake, several outdoor attractions are available for those visiting Agua Vista RV Park. These attractions include boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, and kayaking, among others. Amy, the new owner, mentions that she has many new attractions that she plans to add to the park, including animal rides, tiny houses, and glamping tents. One aspect of the establishment that has been described by previous visitors as unique is its location, due to it being the only RV park with a view of Elephant Butte Lake.
Agua Vista RV Park occupies 20 acres of land in the southern region of New Mexico in Sierra County. The park offers 30 RV sites that are equipped with water and electric hookups. A mix of pull-through and back-in sites are available, and all of the spaces provide a picnic table and a view of Elephant Butte Lake. Additionally featured on the property is a clubhouse where guests can lounge. The clubhouse has a variety of amenities, such as a fully stocked kitchen, ping pong table, seating, TV, and free Wi-Fi. A potluck dinner and other similar events are occasionally held in the clubhouse. Patrons are also given access to shower and bathroom facilities throughout the course of their stay, which can be found near the clubhouse. Laundry facilities with a washer and dryer are additionally located in fairly close proximity to the clubhouse. A general store offers goods for visitors, such as toiletries, milk, eggs, hats, and other items. Amy, the owner, explains that the general store has "all of the supplies needed for short-term or long terms stays."
A few unique features characterize the property, for example, the premises contains a stable that people may rent to board their horses. Amy mentions that they have plans to use these stables to house more horses and offer animal rides around the acreage. Furthermore, the park includes an inground swimming pool and jacuzzi that visitors can enjoy. It should also be noted that a dog park is provided for those who bring a pet with them.
Agua Vista RV Park is relatively close to Elephant Butte Lake, situated a mile and a half from the park. Another nearby lake is Caballo Lake, where people may boat, kayak, canoe, and fish. A few hot springs are also found in the vicinity. The Rio Grande courses through Sierra County, allowing opportunities for tubing and rafting. Amy mentions that a common attraction for many travelers is the rock and petrified wood dispersed throughout the area and parks. Within about a 10-minute drive, guests can enjoy golf games at the Sierra Del Sol Golf Course. Moreover, the town of Truth or Consequences is also situated about a 10-minute drive from Agua Vista RV Park. There are several restaurants in Truth or Consequences, but Amy suggests Los Arcos, a steak house grill; Sidekixx, a bowling alley and winery; and the restaurant at the Sierra Del Sol golf course.
Amy has the goal of helping her guests feel "peaceful and serene" and "pampered at a destination vacation." She explains that she tries to be "attentive to their needs" and offers discounts for future reservations. Amy strives to be dedicated to "improving the park" and has many renovations and ideas for changes she wants to make in the future. One guest seemingly appreciated the changes and renovations that have recently occurred, as they said, "The owner is planting more trees and has updated the pool, road, and Wi-Fi (great access for everyone in the park). The on-site staff keeps facilities clean and is immensely helpful. The atmosphere is neighborly."
The staff of Agua Vista RV Park try to create an atmosphere where the occupants of each site feel "safe, secure, and trusted." Potluck dinners are held to "bring the community together and create a sense of unity," mentions Amy. Special events and dinners are hosted during the holidays as well. Amy explains that she strives to give advice and listen to the concerns of her patrons to make the changes that the guests would like to see. Amy wants people to "feel heard and that their opinion matters."
Agua Vista RV Park asks that those who are staying at the park abide by the policies and guidelines that are in place. One such policy is that visitors must keep their dogs leashed, and they are expected to clean up after their pets. This policy is enforced to create a "safe and clean environment," according to Amy. Another policy is that guests are responsible for throwing away any garbage and cigarette butts at their site. Patrons are also asked to clean up after themselves in the pool, club, or laundry rooms. There is a quiet hour in place from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. During this time, the occupants of every site are asked not to play loud music or disturb their neighbors.
According to Amy, the best season of operation is during the summer, more specifically, from June to August. During these months, they receive a relatively high quantity of tourists from different parts of the country. She explains that they accommodate many visitors who bring boats and enjoy going to Elephant Butte Lake to water ski or fish. Amy mentions about their demographic that they receive a variety of guests, with the most common being retired people between the ages of 65 and 70.
Before Agua Vista RV Park operated as an RV park, it formerly served as a ranch that was owned by Willard and Charlotte Hall. For 20 years, the establishment has been running as an RV park under the ownership of several different people. The park is currently owned by Amy Farhat, who bought the property in November of 2022. Amy has been in the construction industry her whole life and only recently moved from Houston to Elephant View in March of 2022. Amy explains that she never had plans to buy an RV park, but her background in construction spurred her to take on the Agua Vista RV Park and pursue many of the renovations and additions that are now in the works. She remarks that she loves "creating, designing, and watching the park transform" and she enjoys seeing her guests "recognize the park's transformation." She mentions that she has made numerous changes in the short time that she has owned the park. Some of these changes include cleaning debris and moving abandoned RVs.
Amy has several plans for the RV park. She mentions that "many of the changes [she] want[s] to make are in the works and will be ready within a year." Physical changes and planned additions include glamping tents, a paintball obstacle course, a dirt bike obstacle course, tiny houses, a putt-putt golf course, and a greenhouse. She also wants to add multiple events and activities to existing ones, such as karaoke and poker night, animal rides, live music, and ATV trail rides.
